Scott, That info is also available on Dolby's site, and it's in English as well :). (Personally, I'm hoping that Outlaw Audio offers an upgrade for their 950 to support IIx)
My home theater room is L-shaped and it's about 300 sq ft (297.6 sq ft, actually). And I'm trying to figure out which SVS would suit me best (I'm currently using the 11.5 x 16.5 axis for HT). I use my system for about 90% HT and 10% music and I'm looking for some floor-rumbling...
Ron, I often hear about sitting 1.5 times the screen width away from the screen. However, is that based on the literal screen width (as a component of width x height) or is that based on the screen's diagonal width? --- Alex Bischoff
I occasionally see (retail) pricing included in a press release. But, out of curiosity, is there a rule of thumb for converting between between the list price and the price that I might find at Best Buy or Sears? --- Alex Bischoff
You're looking for "a complete system.. fronts, center, rears, and sub.", yet you also mention receivers in your message.. So, that means you're looking for a complete [loudspeaker] system along with a receiver, right? --- Alex Bischoff
Could you be more specific on what you need to buy with the $2,000? Just loudspeakers? Loudspeakers and a receiver? Loudspeakers, a subwoofer, and a receiver? --- Alex Bischoff
Let's see... If you were to go with Axiom Audio, their Factory Outlet might have just what you need (they may have minor finish blemishes, but sound sonically identical to their regular speakers).
The VP100 Center Channel is $198.And a pair of M22T SEs are $360. You could use two pairs to...
I'd recommend the dipoles -- even though there may not be walls to reflect off of, I believe there'll still be an enveloping effect. See also Sound & Vision's article "Poles Apart:
Which kind of speaker should you use for the surround channels, monopole or dipole?"

Jason,
I can't speak as to how Marantz sounds (as I've only heard them briefly). However, Denon and Marantz may soon sound more similar in the future, since they've merged ;).

If I had a 950 and I needed an amp, I'd seriously consider the Anthem PVA 7. It offers 105 watts x 7 channels. At $1499, it costs less than the Outlaw 770, and it's already been awarded a Reviewers' Choice award for 2002 as well. Here's a review and an excerpt:

Gregg,
My viewing monitor is a 27" Sony Wega. Of course, I use its 16:9 mode for viewing DVDs. And, I'm fairly happy with it at the moment.

Here's my current home theater setup: http://www.goodsound.com/equipment/outlaw_1050_receiver.htm Though the room is L-shaped, I currently use the 23' x 9.25' leg for my home theater / listening area (though I suppose I could switch to the other leg if you think that'd help). I use the...
I've heard many good things about the Diva line by Swans. However, I'm not sure if you can buy a complete Diva setup for $1000. I mean, the C3 alone (the center channel) is $499 (half your budget). I would recommend looking into Axiom Audio. Some reviews and excerpts: GoodSound
And, if...
Are you looking for mains for $800, or "the whole set" for $800? And, if the latter, are you looking for 5.1 or 6.1?
Also, what are the approximate dimensions of your listening room?
