    Advice on 1st sub

Boy, a simple "what do you guys think of this sub?" thread turned ugly fast. The funny part is that GaryLB did not even asked about down firing vs front firing. Darren_T gave some excellent suggestions that pertained exactly to the questions asked and just because of one comment he made about...

    Denon: "Direct" vs "Stereo"

I have a 3802 with all speakers set to small and a sub. I was wondering what the difference is between Direct and Stereo modes when listinening to a standard CD? What setting do most people use to listen to 2 channel music? Thanks, Craig

    How are those Axioms??!?!?!?

I am just the opposite of Jason, I have the M22's and have never heard the M50's. I absolutley love my M22's for alot of the same reasons Jason likes his M50's. I upgraded from an Energy Take 5 system and while I thought the Energy's were good, there really is no comparison with the Axioms. The...

AXIOM vs SWANS DIVAS part 2

The Axiom system that Brian is referring to above is mine. I have (2) M22's, a VP 150, (4) QS4's and am now the proud owner of a killer custom 15" 175L sub built by Brian. (The sub is amazing and I will be posting a review of it shortly). As far as the speakers go, I went through a similar set...

    "Custom DIY sub" alternative

After much reading on this and other forums it appears to be the general consensus that DIY subs offer the biggest "bang for the buck" followed by offerings from SVS, Adire and Hsu (the later three being in no particular order). However, due to my limited woodworking skills and general lack of...

    "Custom DIY sub" alternative (long)

After much reading on this and other forums it appears to be the general consensus that DIY subs offer the biggest "bang for the buck" followed by offerings from SVS, Adire and Hsu (the later three being in no particular order). However, due to my limited woodworking skills and general lack of...

    What makes a sub "bottom"?

I was wondering what was the biggest factor in a driver reaching its limits and "bottoming out". Is it mainly the sheer volume you are pushing through it or is it related more to the frequency of the signal feeding the sub vs the frequency the sub is tuned to, or neither or both? I assume it...

Port plugs on SVS CS+ subs?

Does anyone have a 25-31 CS+ and use the port plug to get more extension? It looks like I am going to get a 25-31 CS+ and hopefully I will have enough spl's to run it with the plug in. From what I have read, it will then act like a 20-39. If anyone has this set up, do you feel like you are...

    Seaker Stand for Axiom VP150?

Thanks for the reply Marc. Actually that was exactly my setup before I purchased my SVS sub and it worked great. I even figured out the part about turning the speaker upside down. Unfortunately, what appears to be about the only drawback of the cylinder design of the SVS is that it is not...

    Seaker Stand for Axiom VP150?

Does anyone have a source or a reccomendation for a speaker stand for my Axiom VP150 center channel speaker? It needs to be 20" or less in height to fit below my screen. The speaker measures 7.5 x 26.5 x 7.5 and weighs 21.5 pounds. Thanks.

Who knows this centerspeaker stand ???

That sound anchor stand looks real nice, but is also pretty pricey. Does anyone know of any other good "fillable" center channel stands at a lower cost? I would rather not pay as much for my stand as I did for the speaker!

    Samson S700 level adjustment?

Thanks Vince, I guess I will leave it where it is. This may be a stupid question, but is the clip light affected by the overall volume level you are playing at or is it tied to the level of bass, or both? i.e. Will it not come on (clip) at low levels of overall volume even with bass heavy...

    Samson S700 level adjustment?

After calibrating my SVS 20-39cs and Samson S700, I have my sub level on my Denon 3802 at -11 out of -12 with the front knob on the Samson cranked all the way to the right. Should I lower the Samson so I have more room to adjust downwards if i need it? The clip light comes on quite often on...

How come I can't bottom my subs

Troy, I don't understand how you can be calibrated at 75 and then the sub will bottom at -12. Can you play any of the other bass heavy scenes at reference or will they all bottom the sub? I was having a similar problem and then I found that the internal test tones I had calibrated off of...

Help, my new SVS is "clacking"

What do you guys think of the Sound and Vision set up dvd. I hear it has 6.1 and DTS calibration demos which VE does not. Is it worth getting to supplement VE?

How come I can't bottom my subs

Greg, I had no problem bottoming mine, but I guess I was about 5 to 10db over reference with a new single 20-39cs and Samson S700 calibrated to the Denons internal test tones. Now that I have it calibrated to VE, it will just start to bottom at reference at the intro on Toy Story 2 when the...

Help, my new SVS is "clacking"

Things are always darkest before the dawn...an update to my continuing calibration saga. Well I went ahead and recalibrated the sub again down to 72 using the Denon's internal test tones, because I just had to hear what the intro Toy Story 2 sounded like at full reference. I guess I was not...

Help, my new SVS is "clacking"

Just to clarify, I only had the sub calibrated "hot" (about 78 - 80) for the very first test with music and then Toy Story 2. As soon as I heard the first clack, I re-calibrated it down to the 75 on the meter, which I now realize was actually 78. I then ran that same scene again as well as the...

    Axiom owners, let's hear opinions

I have the M22's, VP150 and QS4's and love them. I have mine paired with a 20-39cs SVS sub, and it is a great combo that blends very well. After hearing mine a guy in my office ordered the M3's, VP100 and QS4's and he can't get over the quality of the sound, very clean and detailed. I keep...

Help, my new SVS is "clacking"

Thats what I was afraid of. Do you think I would have this issue if I had gone with the cs+? I was agonizing between the cs and the cs+ and ended up going with the cs because I thought it would be enough and to save some $$. I really do not have the room to add a second sub in the ame corner...

Help, my new SVS is "clacking"

Jeff, So you are saying to leave it as is and just not crank it up to reference on those couple of titles? Or should I tweak it down a little so it will never bottom? Or since I typically listen to movies at -10 to -15, should I even tweak the sub up a little for standard viewing and just...

SVS wall hanging: a complete review

How big is your room, what type of amplifier are you using? My guess is that your performance problems stem from a lack of calibration. If this does not fix the problem you will most likely need to go to a dual logo setup.

Help, my new SVS is "clacking"

I just set up my 20-39cs and Samson S700 last night and the difference from my old Energy ES-10 is amazing. My wife had to send my son down to tell me to turn it down as I was "shaking the whole house". Other equipment is a Denon 3802 and the room is about 1,300 cf. I hooked everything up...

Just ordered my 20-39CS and Samson 700!

After all of the agonizing deliberation, I finally ordered my my 20-39CS and Samson S700 from SVS. Now that I have made up my mind, please don't reply to my eariler e-mail and tell me I should get a CS+, I have already started second guessing myself and I really don't need any help! :)

CS or CS+ in 1,300 cu ft room?

I am about to order my SVS and figured I would post a last second question. Does anyone here have a 20-39cs in an approximately 1,300 cubic foot room that wishes they had a little more output? My room is totally sealed and I watch 90% movies, although some of those are concerts. The guys at...
