Aaron, I think the Brown Noise might have something to do with the UPS delivery truck. :)
I received my shipping notice last night. Order #2519 for a 20-39CS+ :D
Now I'm waiting for the Brown Noise...
Dennis,
Your project looks like it is coming along nicely. Moving a support post is a lot of work. I know. I just did the same thing myself. Can you believe what we go through for our hobby!
Earl,
Keep us posted on the progress of your project. I would really like to know what kind of sound-proofing system your builder uses and how happy you are with the results.
Earl, Building a sound-proof (or nearly sound proof) room is not an easy task. A typical approach that seems to be used frequently is the "room within a room" concept. The essence of this is that the walls, ceiling, and floor of the sound-proofed room should not make direct contact with the...
Graham,
I would agree with the previous replies which recommended that you put a sub-panel in your basement. This way you know you have plenty room to put in as many breakers as you need. I would run a minimum to two 20 amp circuits dedicated for your AV equipment. Be sure your lights and...
Here's a couple of ideas for the surround speakers (5.1) and rear speakers (7.1).
1) While not ideal for sound dispersion, you could install in-ceiling speakers.
2) For wall mounted surrounds, one could obviously go on the north wall in line with where I show the couch, or slightly behind...
Chris,
Your basement is very close to the size of mine. My stairs are in the same place as yours and I have (had) a support post in the same place that you have one. See my project here. It might give you some ideas.
You can get 4'X 8' sheets of 2" styrofoam at your local home improvement center. They are inexpensive, light weight, and easy to cut with a utility knife. They would make great "prop" walls.
Loring,
If your mobile home was built in 1994, I would highly doubt that it has aluminum wiring. Most homes that I know of that have aluminum wiring were built in the 70's.
It's pretty easy to tell if you have copper or aluminum wiring. First find a plug-in recepticle that you have fairly...
I'm impressed! Especially doing it yourself. How long did it take? I've been working on mine for almost a year and half and am only about 70% done.
The quality of your work and your color choices look great.
Enjoy!
I have a similar issue with my Home Theater. I am about 70% completed with the construction, but I also have an I-beam running across the room. I've wondered what the acoustical affects will be.
I would strongly suggest that you get an engineer involved in calculating the load requirements if...
I'm a newbie. I've been shopping around for a new sub for several months to complement the new home theater I've been building for the last year and a half. (Hope to have it competed in another month or two). I've read many reviews of the SVS but was just about ready to buy a Paradigm PW-2200...
