Has anyone bothered with White Line Fever and Kill them All And Come Back Alone? I just received both of them along with High Wind In Jamaica and will be watching them projected sometime this week - hopefully the transfers on the first two will be decent, I understand High Wind is passable...
I will say this much - if one likes the film and nothing else is forthcoming it is at least passable, and by no means that terrible. When watching I never got the feeling that I was looking at something that was unviewable or that was in need of a major restoration or rescan etc. Of course that...
For those of you thinking of The Hunters I ordered a copy a couple of weeks ago and hopefully will receive it before too long - perhaps anyone who might have it can chime in on the video and audio quality, otherwise stay tuned.
I deleted the original post when I realized the audio problem was in my system - just finished viewing and while quality and sharpness varies it can look very good and yes the soundtrack is nice as well. One should not be too picky when considering the effort that was required to bring it to blu...
Thought there was an audio issue with the blu ray but my centre channel at one of the interconnects decided to act up but all is well - I have to say though that the film itself looks alright, not exceptional though it is quite an improvement over the dvd, decent sharpness and color as it varies...
I purchased the latest version and frankly, projected onto a 128" 2:35 screen it looked pretty decent to me, screen shots do not usually feel the whole story - although no expert I usually notice over sharpening, dnr, etc. and it looks very acceptable. Perhaps you could elaborate for those...
I enjoy the same genres myself so all of the titles I listed are older films - except for The Core, K20, The Round Up and Sophie Scholl - all interesting in their own way. The Core is one of those Sci Fi guilty pleasures ( we all have them! ) that is nonsensical but what can I say? K20 is a...
With a caution regarding one's display and how well it is set up, as I mentioned, projected I certainly found the blu ray of The Bravados quite good and worth purchasing. That screen cap looks darker than I remember!
Not knowing your tastes at least we can give you some insight, for myself here are a few:
The Naked Prey ( UK )
Lonely Are The Brave ( Germany )
Foreign Legion ( France )
The Last Wagon ( Germany )
The Bravados ( Germany )
Bandolero ( Germany )
The Tall Men ( Germany )
The Devil's Brigade (...
Another heads up regarding The Bravados - while it is definitely saturated, in a pleasing way I might add it can be seemingly a tad "dark" - then again considering the numerous day for night scenes rather expected, overall I thought it looked very good, sharp and detailed, this from being...
I always enjoyed this film for the most part, especially the shots of the steam engine traveling along the river - also, the part earlier where the engine is sitting and James Stewart's character enters the coach prior to being hired is great for steam buffs when the engine's whistle echoes off...
I believe it is Region B locked as well - if the source used ends up being the same if one can play a B disc I would say the savings are pretty good. I will of course comment on the video quality when it arrives.
Looks like this has been released in Germany, one individual on another forum mentioned it looked good for what it is worth. I just ordered this gem from Grooves for a very low price - check them out while they have it in stock. Anyone who knows of this film realizes just what a great...
Also from Explosive Media ( Germany ) is Bandolero! - looks pretty good too although Region B locked. If you did not catch the announcement Flight Of The Phoenix will be released in the U.K. in September.
If it was already posted I missed it - released April 29 in Germany as a widescreen "Limited Edition " by Ostalgica it appears to be based on an older master from Universal but after viewing a few screen caps online decided to purchase a copy through Grooves.and hopefully it will not take too...
I just ordered The Last Wagon from Grooves, anyone else interested in this release as well? I hear the image looks quite good with no forced subtitles.
Watched it on a 128" screen ( 2:35 ) and it does look quite good, at least to my amateur eyes! It had it's moments though not what I would call a very well done film, certainly gave off that '80's vibe! And since I live near Vancouver where it was shot it was great to see a few scenes from back...
Will be turning on the too infrequently used projector and watch, in no particular order:
Bite The Bullet
Two Rode Together
Rogue Nation
The Bank Shot
House Of Bamboo
The Walk
I just finished watching Paramount's Darling Lili and thought it was a pretty good film overall and of course some great singing by Julie Andrews. Which led me to wonder if it will ever get a release to blu ray, along with some other musicals such as Finian's Rainbow, On A Clear Day You Can See...
Should have checked first - Warners has this as an Archive dvd and considering some of the titles that have been released on blu ray this would be a worthwhile one, hope they consider it.
I think I should pull out that widescreen laser disc and have another look at it - besides the rather uplifting music score during the flight sequences there is always the dialog, such as harry Morgan saying " they're all sharp tools" commenting about the select crew members.on the B 36. I...
After purchasing and enjoying The Hindenburg (1975) from a Koch Media German release I wonder if there is a remote chance we might someday have this film see the light of day on blu ray. I usually always enjoy Micheal York and of course with not very many WW1 movies out there, especially...
Any particular reason I am unable to edit all of a sudden? I don't mind if someone else would prefer to do this, I was in the middle of adding some titles when I was unable to finish. Oh well!
Hoping this thread generates interest and we can consolidate what is currently available along with announced upcoming titles. As mentioned, this will take awhile to compile. Let me know if the layout is acceptable, especially concerning those releases that are available in more than one...
