Why would it bottom easily? Seems like it would bottom easier (quicker) in a ported enclosure since there is less "resistance" for the sub........it's not compressing air. Steve
Too small of a box????? Are ya' kidding me, this thing is huge (and very heavy!!). :) Heck, my Jensen 12" sub box has a port. Maybe I will just button it up and see how it sounds. I am so far out of the loop when it comes to figuring this stuff out that I'm just beating my head against the...
Also, when it says "port length", does it mean the entire distance of the port (which includes the flare), or just the length of the port before the flares? Or, for simple simons such as myself, should I just button the box up and leave it as a sealed box? :D Seems like an awful big box...
Ok, FINALLY going to finish this thing up. 12" Dayton DVC sub 250 watt Partsexpress plate amp Partsexpress 1" thick MDF cabinet (yes, 1"!!). Internal measurements are 18"x18"x18" Partsexpress port. Port is 3" in diameter. Question: How long should this port be? In the directions...
Personally, I feel an external equalizer gives a lot of extra "ooooopmh" to my music. My old SA-DX950, for all that it is (or isn't), does allow me to to equalize my music (CD). I like that. I feel the equalizer just adds a lot of "flavor" to the music experience. But then again, you're...
As much as I'm ready to upgrade my old Technics SA-DX950, it does have one thing that I like, and that's a tape monitor loop to accept my equalizer. What other receivers out there will do this? I would like to purchase the Pioneer 1014 or 1015.....will these do what I want? Thanks. Steve
I really would like to start using these little subs again, but was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction on where the cutoff should be for these subs. Thanks in advance. Steve
Ok, I'll go and try hunt them down over at partsexpress. I wasn't really looking for real "deep" bass with these. Just a fun project to hammer out (and my Yamaha M-80 does a fairly good job at "hammering" ;) ) some extra bass. Thanks again. steve
Well, the only reason I have the DSP-E492 in the loop at all is because I wanted to run a couple small unpowered subs (Dayton 8" 4 ohm woofers). I'm using my yamaha M-80 to power the subs, since they have no trouble handling the 4 ohm load. This system, is the system I use upstairs in my...
Also, I am using an old Technics SA-1010 as the "main" amp, and simply using the DSP-E492 to route the sub signals to the M-80 and then to the subs. Built these little boogers just for the sake of doing it. Fun project, but somehow I need to get the right signal going to them. Steve
Built a couple small Dayton 4 ohm 8" subs in a sealed cabinet. Powering them with my Yamaha M-80 amp :D . Getting the signal for the subs using my yamaha DSP-E492 processor. Here's the problem. I believe the processor has a cutoff of around 200 HZ. The subs are getting too much "higher"...
Thanks Mark. Yeah, there's really not a whole lot to putting this thing together. I mean, tweaking it (how much foam, where to put the foam, ported or sealed, where to put the port, etc.) is a little time consuming, but actually "bolting" the cabinet together is a snap. Also, does anybody...
Yeah, I'm very happy with the quality of the kit. The cuts are spot on. I don't know if this kit can be found anymore or not. I can't remember seeing kits that were 1" thick anymore. Lots of 3/4", but not any 1". Once I get the cabinet finished like I want and mount the driver and amp, gonna...
