Well yes, the two actors play off each other very naturally and believably. Cranston does deserve another Emmy for this season for sure. There were actually some great moments upon a second viewing like the "Fly saber", the tension towards the end of Walt almost telling Jesse about the girl...
"Fly". Hmm... What a weird and anti-climactic episide. All Walt and Jesse. And not much happening, maybe a little of Walt going crazy? Nope. Maybe Jesse has an accident near the end? Nope. Any progression of story? Barely. Only things I caught: Walt may suspect Jesse of some...
I thought it was a great episode, showing some singing talent from the actors too! A good break from the pace of the show this season. I'm already dreading the wait for season 3!
I see. Didn't realize there was so much history behind the scenes of it. Thanks for the explanation!
Even the original move to get stations broadcasting in high def digital was a huge mess!
Why make a HD format that is not in progressive scan? Aren't all HDTV's / monitors showing progressive scan anyway?
I know why they have 720p and 1080p, but what is it about 1080i that makes it even an option for BluRay and/or broadcast/cable?
/confused
I think it's a cable box issue. I got the DVDs looking normal on component again. Need an HDMI cable for the cable box. I'll find a cheap one online. Thanks for the advice!
It's a Samsung 550 52" TV. I like it, but I think it's stretching the picture. On digital cable HD channels it stretches to fit the 16:9. OK, the TV is set to output 16:9, and the digital cable box is set to output at 16:9 1080i. If I do the "zoom 1" option on the TV the stretching goes...
My roommate just got a LN52A550 (60Hz 52 inch) for around 1300USD. It's awesome. Calibrate using AVIA or something, maybe get a professional calibration on yours. We haven't done that but it still looks superb to me. Good black level, decent contrast ratio. I can't wait to have a house of my...
Try to at least match the brand with the other speakers you already have, for some timbre balance. If possible match all the rear speakers at the same model for complete coherence. Don't forget to get match the dB reference with a mic if your receiver can take one. If not, then get a radio...
OK, I want Jerry to win it all. Dan has proven himself to be a total liar, though he plays the game well. Jerry is so honest and deserving. Renny is also a fave. BTW I'm a younger guy, but I like these older people. They're people to look up to as an example to younger people as far as simple...
It's such a good show though, that fans won't care that the storyline is completely whacked out. It pretty much always has been. They should be able to write it such that it is somewhat believable - I hope.
I've always used dipoles for the diffuse soundfield for movies. I'm not really picky about multichannel music. It still gives you environment but not precise location of sound. Dipoles work well a little higher up and a little farther behind also. They're more forgiving in other words. I usually...
I recently caught up on all the episodes, haven't watched BB since 1st season. What a crazy show. I like Dan. He's so full of himself but in a weirdly funny way I can't really describe. Memphis always gets mad, Jerry would be my other fav to win just because he's the man! Keesha is hot, Renny is...
An A/B audition may be in order here to decide. I have heard positives about Pioneer Elite, but I love my Denon 3805. BTW...7.2? What is this about? I'm still on the "ancient" 5.1! I know what the 7 is, but what's the .2?
Yep, nothing like going into a good a/v store and demo-ing a few pair of good speakers. You'll be a lot happier with the results. And good on you Ed, for putting the info here so others can be informed of all these fakes. I knew they were out there but not so many, yikes!
Wasn't sure which forum to post this in. I would like to replace my remote for my old Carver HTR 880 analog DPL receiver. I could probably get a universal, but I doubt I could find the code for this model, which makes an excellent stereo receiver btw!
I didn't know you could do that either! Hacker! :) I have a 3805 that I just got a couple years ago too, and I know what frustration the OP is talking about. Unfortunately HDMI was just coming into the picture at the time. So to be clear, I thought you had to use HDMI, but you can actually...
You will still need some receiver that can handle HDMI audio inputs. Also your current speakers need to be in a suitable impedance range that typical receivers can handle (6-16 ohm roughly, a spec might be listed in the speakers' manual if you have it), and have normal speaker wire (+ and -)...
It will be a greater load for the receiver though. Smaller impedance means more current will flow to the receiver's speaker outputs, which will produce more heat. Make sure you keep the receiver well ventilated on the top/back/sides, i.e. don't stack stuff on it!
