Robert Harris on The Bits - 10/28/02 column - OFFICIAL THREAD

In response to the defense of the E.T. disc, I personally don't care that the old version was included. They're pretty much the same movie. I think the old version is better in some respects, and the newer better in some respects. My problem is that it's inclusion meant the dropping of the...

HTF REVIEW: "Time After Time" (with screenshots)

I have fainted twice in my life. The first was when I saw Time After Time when I was 9 years old. The opening sequence gives the impression that Jack rips apart the victims vagina, which is historically accurate except that it was cut. This was simply too much for my wee brain to imagine....and...

Best Buy Warrenties Are A Rip Off!!!

One last update. I called over and over, eventually I decided to actually go there, which I did and finally found someone to help me. They discovered that (surprise) it had never been rung through. I had foolishly left my receipts at work, so I zipped back to get them and burst through the doors...

Best Buy Warrenties Are A Rip Off!!!

OK, here's an update, and more proof that Best uy just can't seem to do anything right. I returned the TV a week ago. So far Best Buy has not credited my card back yet. I've been calling and calling, but so far it "The check's in the mail" response. Finally I get someone to talk to me about it...

Best Buy Warrenties Are A Rip Off!!!

I have to leave work now and go wait (and hope) that they show up to pick up my TV. I'll be without a TV at all for at least 3 days, guess I'll find a book. I will probably buy the TV from SEARS as I hear they have GREAT customer service.

Best Buy Warrenties Are A Rip Off!!!

Scott, I feel your pain. It's obvious that Best Buy could give a crap about either their employees or their customers. When I bought my TV there, I just assumed it was in working condition. They wouldn't sell it if it wasn't right? I asked about the warrenty, and even though he was relentlessly...

Help me choose a complete system for $4000

Kenwood also has a $170.00 system if that's your taste, but why is it so damn ugly? Wether you have a beef against the company or not, you gotta admit that the Aiwa receivers look BAD ASS!

Help me choose a complete system for $4000

For more info on that Panasonic HDTV, go to www.panny.tv They have lots of tweaks to hotrod it, service menu access codes, a great forum, and step by step instructions to hotrod your TV. It's what convinced me to get one for myself.

Help me choose a complete system for $4000

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the thing to spend the money on is the TV. There are some truly AWESOME 65" widescreen HDTVs for about $3500.00. It's just like having a movie screen in your house. Bright, crisp and clean, this is the most important piece to any setup. For the budget...

    Progressive Scan?

My comment about players other than Toshiba and Sony is based on personal experience as well as word of mouth and Consumer Reports. CR rates Toshiba and Sony in the top 5 DVD players. My experience with a Samsung DVD-907 ($350.00) was horrendous. I first noticed it when it wouldn't play Babe...

    Progressive Scan?

You should keep in mind that all a progressive scan player is is a more efficient line doubler. A "normal" DVD player isn't holding anything back. Until HD-DVD comes along in about 5 years, it's all in the line doubling. High end TVs do this rather well actually, particularly HDTVs. From what I...

Best Buy Warrenties Are A Rip Off!!!

BOY OH BOY! I can't describe the hell I've been through since buying this POS at Best buy. Don't get me wrong, despite the defects I can see that the Panasonic 47" widescreen HDTV is a great TV. If I do one good thing in my life, I want it to be to dissuade someone from buying the 4 year...

SPACE: Above and Beyond on DVD!

I just started a petition to bring this great series to DVD. Studios really pay attention to petitions. It's gotten us Willy Wonka and Cats & Dogs in widescreen, and perhaps even got N'Sinc out of Star Wars! If we really want this we can get it, but we have to work a little. The petition itself...
