Just joined this group and they do have a lot of sources on tweaks and everything imaginable that you would want to do to your TV. The only annoying thing is that this is also a newsgroup, so expect a LOT of emails in your box. Cheers.
Yo Rain,
I need some help on changing some of my settings :)
Most of the names on the Sony Service Menu I don't recognize and are not equivalent to some of those mentioned in the post.
If you could post some of the more basic changes I could do with Sony's corresponding service menu label...
I finally accessed the Service Menu but the setting labels are completely different. Can someone help me find the equivalent of AXPL, VMLV, and Y-DC on my set? Thanks
Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know how to correct the problem within the service menu? I forget, but fiddling with the service menu voids warranty, yes?
Hey guys, thanks in advance for reading my post... Here's the problem: My TV is horizontally off-center when I watch DVDs. I found this out when I was watching Star Wars Ep. 2 and I decided to calibrate the TV using the THX video tests. If any of you guys have run it, you will know that...
You'll also need NIC (network interface cards) installed on each computer you intend having on the network. I recommend getting Linksys NICs and a Linksys router as those have worked painlessly for me.
I think that ideally you would want the center channel at a height that is at the same listening level with your ears. This means if your ears were a certain distance from the ground, then the center channel should also be around that same distance above ground as well. If you want to mount...
Anyone have any good resources or previous threads that discuss wiring in all of its aspects? Let's assume I know nothing about the subject. Specifically, I wish to know more about bananas and spades, the best type of wire for hooking up a home theater, and anything else I should know. Please...

Hey guys,
I recently purchased a Yamaha HTR-5490 at Best Buy for my cousin who is getting married in about a week. I go over to his house and it turns out that he already has the receiver. Curious as I was, I asked him how much he had paid for it and he said he got it for around $550. I was...
Anyone have any experience with this? Is it overpriced for what it offers? Or is it a solid receiver regardless of price? If I get the Klipsch Quintets will this receiver be overkill?
Any input will be appreciated. Thanks guys. :)
Thanks a lot guys for your input. I am going to go with the Samsung and invest in a progressive scan DVD player later down the road. If anyone has anymore comments on the Samsung (positive or negative) please let me know. I want to be sure that I'm making the right choice. Thanks again!
As of right now, my current budget doesn't allow me to get a progressive scan DVD player IF i happen to get the Samsung. I will eventually get one however.
OK, let's say that I get the Sony Wega AND a progressive scan DVD player. I know that the progressive scan players are optimized when used...
Due to size restrictions, I can't get anything bigger than 27".. What do you guys think of Samsung and this tv in particular? I am new to TVs btw so help me out please :)
Hi all,
Before I start, let me just say I am a newbie, so please bare with me :)
I'm planning on getting a TV for my dorm room and recently I've been interested in getting a 27" KV-27FS13 Wega ($600). However, when I went to look at the TV at best buy, I came across the Samsung 27" Dynaflat...
