I've owned video essential for about 5 years now. :)
The only way to get rid of the artifacts is to turn the sharpness down to 10, which results in a very soft, blurry looking picture.
I wish I could change cable, but I'm locked into dish because of where I live. I also get totally sucky...
I've had my 42" Toshiba HDTV WS for a couple months now using broadcast(!), mostly for DVD movies.
Two days ago I took the plunge and signed up with dish.
First thing I noticed is that the mpeg decompression is pretty bad. Somewhere inbetween mpeg1 and mpeg2. I see artifacting around hard...
Well if you have to find certain parts of certain movies, I don't think "Joe 6pack" would see the value.
The first thing I did after I got my Toshiba HDTV WS was get a Progressive player. Side-by-side with my non-progressive, switching back and forth, I couldn't tell a difference.
I gave up...
I bought Superman I & III. Richard Prior as a hacker was great..
He types: "Remove all security codes"
And he gets in. Then proceeds to reprogram a satellite that watches weather to MAKE weather. :)
Then there's the classic Superman in a bar scene, him fighting his 'evel' self, etc. I've...
I would recommend to anyone that has the horsepower to run Windows 2000 or XP.
Not only big brother, but everyone else on the internet is spying on you with XP..
Win2k and XP have pretty high system requirements.. Not really needed for the home user.
Hell I've still got '98 on the laptop...
I've also probably replaced over 100 failed HDDs in my lifetime, and I'm a HUGE fan of Seagate. They don't break, they're ahead of everyone else, and they warranty for 3 years. If something ever goes wrong, they'll take it back no questions asked. And you're new drive comes in ASAP.

They are a Yahoo top rated service, so they can be trusted. I love video editing, by multi-use cards always sacrifice. The AIW is slower than the regular 8100.
(i.e. Marvel Superheroes)
MSH for dreamcast?! Where?!
I have the VGA box, and games look very sharp. Unfortunately a lot of those games had low resolution, which is more apparent now (all Capcom fighters).
The difference between Svideo and VGA Component on my 42X81 is very marginal. Maybe...
This movie does for street racing what 'Days of Thunder' did for Nascar. Lots of stuff exagerrated or just plain wrong. But that's off topic. So I'll be quiet.

(Who likes pretty pictures, but good stories too)
You should try http://www.dvdasian.com
you can get Battle Royale for $15. And yes, it's the legal, region encoded version.
Get Shaolin Soccer if you haven't yet. :)
Just play games 25% of your tv time the time and you shouldn't have a problem. I've played games for hours on my Toshiba 42W81 without problems (Contrast set at about 50. Hard to see some games under that).
I showed him this thread and we discussed how Star Wars had been banned a few years back for the very reason you cite.
From where?
It must be nice to have the power to program the masses..
You guys seriously liked KI?? You didn't think it was just a bit over the top?
I think all the serious fighting gamers of the day shunned KI as an abomination.
I was about as hard core as they came, and LOVED KI 1 & 2. All the really skilled guys all played it, found all the glitches, broke...
