An ideal setup would have the flexibility to seamlessly transition from 7.X to 7.X.Y. So far all but high end receivers require dropping to a 5.X configuration.
The Fox people were no help - in fact the finger pointing I feared has begun. Fox blames JVC (even though HK players have the same problem) and JVC is blaming the software (even though some players don't have any problem at all).
I would advise not only calling Fox but JVC as well...
You may want to include the Onkyo 898 in your consideration. It offers a lot of the essentials from the Denon 3802 (which would be my second choice by a nose) and adds THX Select Certification along with THX EX. I know some deride paying for the Logo but I think its worth a little. Comparing...

I would have to recommend against the JVC. While the Interlaced picture is fine in my opinion (I think the 'files are a little picky here) it has a problem with certain sub-title functions. The prevalent example is missing sub-titles on the Phantom Menace when you have scenes where the aliens...
