Hey again. I see there have been many reads but no thoughts on this. I have been playing with my gear and after a few hours and a short conversation with a sales dude at BB, I have found the solution. The BB guys all agreed that all HDMI cables are generally the same, (No need to start a brand X...
Hello there, forum! It's been many years since I've been here, I'm very happy to see how you've grown.
I have what i am hoping is a basic (but peculiar) question about HDMI cables. I recently added a new Denon AVR-1913 to my theater with excellent results except for one thing. My PS3 will not...
That is a good point... I will be stopping by BB in the next few days and will post my findings. Is a lack of advertising a problem? That magazine article was the first I had heard of these particular discs... not that I am on the leading techno edge or anything... RW
Thanks for the opinions. I have been able to find them for sale on the monster site, as well as on best buy, circuit city, radio shack and other web sites. I am going to stop at the local BB later this week to see what their stock is like... RW
Hello forum faithful: I just read about the above noted DVDs in the August "Home Theater" magazine. They discuss the first five releases. After a brief search, I have not been able to find any other information about these discs. Have they been released yet? If so, has anyone picked one up...
Hey everyone: I have had the good fortune of being able to replace all of my speakers in my theater. I chose the Energy Reference Connoisseur line with the S12.3 subwoofer. I have posted a few new photos of them in my room. Please view them here I also noticed that the old Sony reciever has...
Thanks, James: I had some time to listen to them last night. They sure seem to be capable of producing good low frequencies with the reciever set to large. Of course this is compared to the aformentioned JBL's. :D Also, it was recomended to set the rears (and center)to large, which I did, and...
Hey everyone: It has been a very long time since I have been around these parts. It feels good to be back. Through some very good fortune, I have been able to purchase a complete Energy Reference Connoisseur setup (RC10, RC-LCR, RC-R), along with the S12.3 subwoofer. I have a Denon AVR 1604...
Hey: I use Radio Shack plugs, part number 278-307 and they look big enough to fit a wire that big. I use 12GA and there is lots of extra room, and they are a straight type plug. They are also locking type plugs. Hope this helps. Later Roy
Hey Harry: I just looked at the operation manual on the Yamaha web site, and the diagram on page 18 shows a cable TV or satellite tuner connected to the cbl/sat inputs. I am sure that would work, but I am not familiar with Yamaha gear, so someone else may want to chime in. My Denon AVR 1604...
Hey Brian: I have had the 57HDX82 for nearly a year now and could not be happier. The picture quality is unbelievable, and we have had NO problems what so ever. In fact, a friend invited us over to see his new 51" Sony Wega - cannot remember which model- it is one of the super slim jobs, and...
Hey guys: I just wanted to add my two cents to this cross border topic. I buy stuff from eBay all the time, and whenever I get something shipped from the US, Canada Post includes a bill for the GST along with a five dollar "handling fee". Of course the amount of the tax is proportional to...
Hey: I just found some solder on locking plugs at the Shack, part number 278-307, and they seem really nice. They were very easy to solder together, and 12GA wire fits fine. Roy
Hello there, forum faithful: I would like to share a small story with all of you who have been offering so much great information over the past few years. I accompanied my brother in law to the local A&B on new years eve afternoon to watch him buy an entry level yamaha receiver. While he was...
I think the "thingy" just may be the dust cover for when that particular input is not being used. My really old Sony had a small plastic dust cover in the optical input from the factory. I just pulled it straight out and that exposed the actual input. Anyone else feel the same? Roy
Hey gang: I have been looking at Onkyo receivers at the local dealer and have decided that the 601 model easily suits my needs. However, for the three or four times a year that I get nostalgic, I would love to have a phono input, which this unit lacks. Now I could jump up to the 701, but I...
Hey all: I have been following this thread with great interest like the rest of you. This will be an automatic buy for me too, as several have mentioned. After I read this, I went snooping around for more information, and found this LINK I am positive that the listed format of "fullscreen...
We have been happy using full mode for everything. No Hi Def broadcasts here, but regular cable seems fine in this mode, with nothing being cut off. Of course DVD's are exceptional:D Roy
Welcome, Will: When I was shopping for my RPTV, one of my buddies who is a repair tech, suggested the widescreen models because the regular 4:3 units will most certainly be obsolete within a few years. He supported this by telling me that when he had to repair his 5 year old RCA RPTV he had a...
They did not specifically tell me how much to put on each shelf, but they are held up with those heavy steel brackets that interlock into the rails, and each shelf is made of 1/2 inch MDF, so I imagine they would hold a fair bit. I bet a place like Home Depot could tell us the weight limit for...
Nice setup, Kevin: Now this method of mounting the surround speakers has me curious. I was planning to mount my rears in a similar fashion, only using a speaker like the Klipsch SS1's. I have no option to place speakers on the sides, as my theater opens into a large area on one side. (pics to...
Michael: I am eventually going to upgrade my receiver and speakers, as I am locked in the Prologic era with my Sony STR-D2020, and JBL Decade 26's:D This TV was the big first step. It has really been fun getting the input from this forum about HT. I look forward to its input regarding my...
Kris: I just purchaced the Toshiba 57HDX82 from the Bay and the final price ended up being $4000.00CAN including GST and delivery. That included the sales dude giving me a really good deal. Roy
