Hey: I use Radio Shack plugs, part number 278-307 and they look big enough to fit a wire that big. I use 12GA and there is lots of extra room, and they are a straight type plug. They are also locking type plugs. Hope this helps. Later Roy

I think the "thingy" just may be the dust cover for when that particular input is not being used. My really old Sony had a small plastic dust cover in the optical input from the factory. I just pulled it straight out and that exposed the actual input. Anyone else feel the same? Roy
