This was a good film, but I don't think it's all it was cracked up to be. (sorry for the pun). What nobody has mentioned is how unrealistic that final boxing scene was. Not to mention the physical improbability of what transpired. That pretty much ruined the remainder of the movie for me.
Dan, Does this take Radio Shack SPL meter correction factors into account for low frequencies? I seem to recall reading about corrections required, but can't seem find them..
I'm just going by what happened with the last hardware upgrade. Dealers that had the capability performed the upgrade. Others sent it in. Has anyone asked Nick? I'm sure he'd tell you. Doesn't bother me, I could drive it there if I wanted to. ;)
If you change the sub level while listening to an input, won't it remember that level the next time you come back to it? (i.e. it isn't in the menu anywhere, but it remembers the channel levels for each input)
George, What can be done to subdue that hum on long runs? AVM20 and my SVS PB2+ sub are on different, isolated electrical circuits and I do get a hum. It's not real annoying, but still there if I listen for it. Even when I unplug the RCA cable from the sub, there's still a little hum.
My AVM-20 is connected to my sub with approximately 30 feet of RG6 with RCA terminators. I am having no problems (and quite honestly didn't expect any) What types of problems are other pre-pros having?
I have the SA35's as my rears with Ref100's and CC up front. A very good combination. Less than $1000 CDN for the SA-35s. Installation is quite easy and solid once complete.
Sorry.. I let the little smileys speak for themselves. That sub kicks some serious a$$. My room is only 17X15x8 and I have lots of headroom. Very tight and accurate.
On a similar note, has anyone ever discussed video "transcoding" for the AVM-20? (i.e. having all video outputs active regardless of source) That would be handy feature. At a minimum, make the On-screen menus also show up on component outputs. Several lower end units and receivers offer this...
I have the Pioneer player and the AVM-20. I went into it assuming that Analog-Direct would be the way to go (more pure), but found I actually preferred Analog-DSP (even with the extra conversions). To each his own I guess..
Jim, I think a few pages back a good number of people voted that they actually prefer the sound of Analog-DSP mode. Try it out, you might like what you hear.
I'm pretty sure the front panel display color is inherent to the device chosen for construction of the unit. To change its color, you'd need to replace it with a compatible one of a different color, if it even exists. (so much for the warranty) It would be cool though. I thought I had read...
Miguel, To be honest, I calibrated once using the AVM-20 test tones and while listening to DVD-A and SACD, I use the channel levels on the AVM-20 to tweak the sound. I'm a firm believer in making it sound good to ME.. and don't spend too much time obsessing with those calibration DVDs...
I am using the Pioneer 47Ai player with both SACD and DVD-Audio. After a lot of tweaking, I find I like Analog-DSP a bit better. One thing to watch for is to make sure the settings on the player have all speakers set to Large so that the Pioneer crossovers don't get in the way and the full...
George, Not that I know of. However, it would be a feature I would definitely be interested in. I'm in the same boat. I'd prefer to use my rears for SACD/DVD-A. I wonder if that could be accomplished in a software upgrade?
