    Full bitrate DTS

I think it would partially contradict the SB concept. On one side, they couldn't afford the space for a commentary, but now they would have to sacrifie >700 Kb for the full rate DTS.

*** Official "HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS" Discussion Thread

*************** Why Harry was able to pull the sword out of the hat is less clear, but it was clear that only a true Gryffindor was able to "pull it out of the hat". It's a magical world they live in, and not everything is expained in a crystal-clear fashion (and it shouldn't be)...

I applaud United Artists Theaters - their no pager policy.

@Josh Why don't you read the whole thread? No one is really bothered by pagers/phones set to vibrate. The problem are those who just keep them ringing and even talk in the theater. So far none of the "I need my pager"-crowd has given a real solution to this. "Teach them" is nice, but how...

Director's need to look at previous actor's/actresses movie roles...

While we are at FOTR, let's not forget C. Lee. In all his scenes in SW Ep2, I thought of Saruman. "Join me, Gandalf eh Obi-Wan"

HTF REVIEW: "Pearl Harbor" The Director's Cut (with screenshots)

Regarding the "historical inaccuracies"... It's always amazing, how this is brought up to critize some movies, but totally ignored for others.

Your favorite OAR vs. P&S demos.

@Barry Ghostbusters is especially good with the Commentary by Ramis ("That's where I always get cut off in the P&S releases"). I'm almost sorry there is no P&S on the disc for a direct comparison...

Just why is widescreen not accepted in the U.S.?

@nick I guess most J6P will use one of the stretch modes to fill the screen anyway. The fact that anyone looks fat won't be noticed...

    Aspect Ratio Report Suggestion

Why not use a notification like [MAR, OR-MR] while omitting the ":1", for modified movies. i. e. [MAR 2,35-1,78] would be formatted from 2,35:1 to 1,78:1 (16:9)
  13. KlausWinkler

    Which aspect ratio to buy?

@JohnB: To make things even more complicated, only the UK RC2 was cropped (maybe they deleted the parts that were especially offensive to the Brits :-)) @Brian: I think "virtually never" allowed some exceptions anyway, but the point that there is no movie, that is intentionally released in...

What makes for good DVD supplements? Here's what I think:

@Mike: None of those are supplements, they should be standard features (along with "4. anamorphic if applicable (AR>1,33:1)).
  15. KlausWinkler

    What's with the fullscreen releases???

@Randy Not buying is a good thing, but don't forget to tell them (retailers etc) WHY you didn't buy.
  16. KlausWinkler

I'm confused about some simple stuff regarding region codes and video formats.

The only problem is the NTSC/PAL issue. Depending on the model of the DVD player tht simple solution could be to set the player to output PAL60. As an alternative he could try to connect the player with the TV via RGB.

Difference Between THX Ultra and THX Ultra 2?

    >What's wrong with having the best possible transfer on VHS? there's nothing wrong with it, but I think it waters down the value of THX. Back in the elder days it was "Meet the standards, or you don't get a THX certification" not it is "Can't meet the standards, let's create a new...

    Digital Sound Question

I think you need to check your receiver settings, it seems you manually activated DPL processing for all analogue signals on your Aux-input. Most DVDs indicate whether a DD 2.0 Track is DPL or plain stereo.

    Thx

THX Ultra: The components meets requirements, that should be met by any decent component anyway. THX select: The components couldn't meet the original requirements, but the producer paid for a THX label anyway. (Yes I know, I'm a cynic)

Tom Clancy gives thumbs up to Sum Of All Fears

@John_VI "He can't be playing Greer, since Greer died in CAPD." Isn't SOAF (Movie) supposed to take place before the other movies? Anyway, with all the changes in the timeline and the story of the previous movies (PG after HfRO, killing Dan in CaPD), it wouldn't matter much...
