Subwoofer is trickier and much more likely to differ (quite) significantly... unless you set its own variable level to match.
IF you just set the subwoofer's own level to roughly midpoint, that should be a good start for the receiver's calibration software.

You should probably use them receiver's calibration algorithm (w/ mic) to set all such (and then maybe tweak a little for some specific needs like stronger dialog via the center channel).
At minimum, you can also use the receiver's provided test tone (perhaps plus a basic sound level meter app)...
FWIW, if you have an Amex CC, you might have an offer for $25 cashback good for one of the ad-free annual plans to maybe make them enticing enough. I'd probably do it if the 4K/top plan is more like $110-120, but probably not at $140 -- in my case, the Amex offer expires end of Sept, so maybe...
I would probably paint the white AV cabinet/stand matte black or something (besides getting rid of or moving that "bladeless white fan").
BTW, did you simply, mistakenly list the PJ settings backwards (between day and night viewing)? I'd think you want brighter for day viewing instead of night...
Is it actually the screen (or whole setup/theater) not being true (large, 1.43:1) IMAX or is it they didn't (or no longer) have 15/70mm film PJ capability, which was apparently required for Dune 2?
IIRC, someone earlier mentioned their 1.43:1 IMAX theater couldn't show it in that AR/format, but...
I probably woulda at least have it on, but the powers-that-be haven't felt it "worthy" of being available on a streaming platform/service that doesn't involve expensive, traditional cable/sat-like subscription -- and I haven't felt like bothering w/ the OTA digital reception thing in ages now...
I doubt it's any kinda olive branch. It's just a very brief recap/refresher reasonably well done just to help everyone dive right back into the story.
Frankly, anyone going to see a (obviously highly anticipated no less) movie entitled something Part 2 has gotta know/realize they shoulda seen...
Claustrophobic?
Isn't the IMAX 1.9:1 AR more open, not tighter than the scope version?
I might give Dolby Cinema a try as well next Tues or Wed probably for a matinee w/ my A-List. Might as well have a look-see at what likely to expect for the 4K disc release...

I also bought that PD Capture v3 + ProPad back around BF week... but haven't actually tried/used them yet... and you just made me realize the L bracket I also bought soon after probably won't actually work (well, if at all) w/ the Capture, LOL. Ah well, too late now...:lol: Not sure...
To be fair, I'm sure there's more build-up for Dune 2 than could possibly be for Dune 1, including w/ help from the Dune 1 re-release. Plus the Oppy/Barbenheimer run and re-release (along w/ Tenet too) might possibly have also benefited Dune 2 w/ helping getting more people back into going to...
Hmmm... alrighty, you're renewing my desire to see it in a theater... and I just realized I can apparently still try to see it at a Regal (and very cheaply to boot) not quite too far away tonight, so I'm gonna head out in a short bit after a very quick meal, heh... :P
Hope the sound is actually...
No, I don't need to see the discs already to have pretty good idea in these cases.
Not like any of the issues are some hidden secrets afterall.
I saw The Abyss in Dolby Cinema for instance, and I'm quite sure the 4K disc won't look any better.
I haven't personally, literally seen wind, air...
I've seen 9 of them in theaters as well (some multiple times). Almost saw all 10 that way, but my plans for Maestro just kept falling through, so I may just cave and see it on Netflix instead before the Oscars on Sunday just so I can finally say I've seen all of them for my 1st time ever before...
Better, more filmic versions of them (and a better ending for The Abyss), LOL... but that's never gonna happen (just like the actual Holy Grail, heh), so... ;)

I think ultimately Joe just didn't wanna see a (family) dramedy blended into this story, which he largely expressed all along.
Agreed I'm not sure calling the Brown character or his portrayal cliched is quite apt.
Anyhoo, ultimately, seemed Joe simply wanted this to be more strictly sharp...
Meanwhile, I just came out from a digital IMAX screening where they musta ran the max of ~30min of trailers, etc before starting the actual movie... but I was actually glad for that since I ran late and literally walked in right when it began, LOL -- since I just saw it 2 days earlier, wouldn't...
More recent trend (that I last saw) seems to suggest the DVD market may be declining/shrinking fast enough (probably mostly because of streaming) to fall below BD+4K quite soon, if not already... And really, I don't see why vast majority of enthusiasts/collectors wouldn't simply migrate at...
Are DVDs actually still meaningfully cheaper than BDs? I wouldn't think so by this point, especially if there's also a 4K disc release for whichever title in question.
I'm guessing most of the rest of the DVD market is migrating to streaming (unless it's something still not available via...
Well, if it falls off a cliff, it certainly won't be my fault, LOL... ;) as I now already have tix to see it 4x (inclusive of yesterday... plus a few for friends) after they just extended the Lincoln Sq IMAX run today for their first of likely multiple weekly(?) extensions (and apparently...
While this doesn't top ESB for me (and shouldn't need to), I bet the 3rd one will easily top RotJ, haha...
Not sure, but I'd say this probably tops The Two Towers for me though, but that's probably at least partly because I'm far more familiar w/ (and deeply invested enough in) the source...
Haha... I actually haven't gotten around to seeing that other film just yet (on my disc backlog)... though that's not really a spoiler (of that other film anyway) for me (or probably for most any others in similar boat) since I already knew that story, of course, heh... but yeah, don't read that...
Anyhoo, I just saw Dune 2 in IMAX 15/70 earlier today and loved it...
... although I have to say I wasn't quite as impressed w/ the visuals this time around as for the 1st film... even though I found the 15/70mm film PQ of this is definitely a fair deal better than the 4K dual laser...
As Jake's examples (and actually, many others) show, the vast majority of mainstream movie-goers, which you'd need for big BO numbers, may not actually be that interested in great sci-fi, especially if it's the kinda true sci-fi that Josh pointed out earlier, instead of this kinda (sci-)fantasy...
Honestly don't remember anymore quite what originally got me to subscribe (at least consistently) years ago. Even w/ their old/original disc rental bizz, I basically only binge subscribed for certain periods, not year-round in general.... and wasn't doing the disc rentals at all by the time we...
Well, Joe, guess what?
Yep, just snagged a good seat for tomorrow's extra, noon-time screening that someone musta just canceled... so I'm finally seeing this actually for my 1st time -- I never actually got around to watching my 4K disc yet. :D:cool:
From what little I've actually heard, hope...
Maybe someone will develop a 3rd party app to handle that better than the few existing aggregater platforms and charge a nominal fee to efficiently, automatically manage our subscriptions (eg. cancel, pause and/or reactivate and maybe more) based on our actual, individual needs so we don't have...
