I just used this for:
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Leon: The Professional (Extended Cut)
The Fifth Element
Sleepless in Seattle
Adaptation
Actually already had CTHD, Leon and FE in HD because I originally redeemed my 4K DCs (from 4K discs) via Vudu back when they only had HD and I didn't...
Frustrating indeed.
Only very tangentially related, but I just bought the extended cut of Leon: The Professional 4K via FanFlix's latest bundle deal (figuring I should choose that to ensure I get 4K for that version), and of course, it's not porting to Apple/iTunes which only has one entry (for...
I don't know, but maybe it's time to move on and let this go instead of just keep banging one's head against some 3ft thick leaden wall or some such (that even if you have Superman's X-Ray vision, won't be able to see thru and find out), heh... Not like finding out will likely, meaningfully...
Maybe it's just me, but I think the FX (at least as seen on a big-ish screen in a dark theater) were basically spot on for what's intended and works perfectly (and helps further evoke the low-ish budget, 70's vibe).

I've got Sphero's R2D2 and BB-8 myself... though haven't really touched them in a few years now and not completely sure if they still work -- might need their rechargeable batteries refreshed, if possible.
Also, hadn't realized Sphero apparently removed/disabled(?) their dedicated iOS app (at...
I'd be interested if they're actually showing them on premium screens (and sound), especially since my AMC A-List membership apparently won't cover these, but not gonna spend $20/each (plus the travel cost) to try to get decent seats for non-premium screenings -- I already have the 4K discs and...
Just finished seeing it... and well, a tad underwhelming.
The PQ wasn't great... at least at the IMAX I visited near Times Square -- plenty of very noticeable pixel structure and aliasing in the image from my immersive 5th row seat -- and yeah, not really that many actual images from Webb...
I wonder... do they normally still play the usual amount of trailers, etc before such IMAX docs or far less, if any at all?
I'm guessing a tad less, but still quite some (maybe 15-20min) based on the schedule at my nearest 2 IMAXes.

^So that's what replaced Civil War at my nearest couple IMAXes?
I hadn't really paid attention. Maybe I'll go see it today instead of First Omen (as the 1st film for my occasional 3-film marathon for this week... followed by La Chimera and Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare :D:cool:)...

Wait, what? I thought this is supposed to be a prequel to the original classic, not the remake.
Was planning to see this tomorrow, but won't bother if it's a prequel specifically to the remake.

FWIW, I went into this cold myself and didn't know much of anything about it (other than a brief blurp on Rotten Tomatoes I think) -- I don't do any social media other than FB (and well, a little bit of LinkedIn, heh) and don't generally see much, if any, movie hype on there...
Still, haven't...
Interesting. That page indicates Oct 2023 release date. Did they do a better quality reissue (especially since they also briefly mention "new special edition" in the description)? Is that what you have? It does list some (old) extras though, so you probably have the old release.
From...
Seemed to have been released on BD in Australia, UK, France and Germany (according to blu-ray.com).
At one point, I considered importing it myself, but ended up just buying it cheaply on (HD) digital instead -- I seem to recall the various BDs probably weren't that great quality-wise.

I don't know. It sounds like she wants filmmakers (and artists in general?) to tell us what and how to think or something instead of providing catalysts toward critical thinking (or at least concern/awareness), etc on what are clearly (enough) known to be (extremely) difficult/complex...
Wish I could see it again w/ excellent sound (and in 4K on a big screen), but it's apparently indeed being squeezed out of all the premium screens over here w/ too little exception (and seemingly none that works well enough for me).
Ah well, guess I'll probably just wait for the disc release to...
FWIW, I haven't tried using my Panny 420 to downrez for 1080p output, but the Sony X700's UI is even clunkier if you need to use it that way and wish to tweak/optimize its HDR->SDR downconversion. But if you don't need the HDR->SDR downconversion for long, then it's probably not much an...
I'd suggest sticking w/ a Panasonic as well (even though I've had my issues w/ their BD players in the past).
I've also had a Sony 700 as my 1st 4K player that worked just fine though the UI is definitely (very) clunky, perhaps especially if you wanna use Dolby Vision, but many seem to run into...
During the movie, I thought she looked a bit like a very young Jennifer Lawrence. I think she looks like a cross between JL and BL, but nothing like Portman at all other than being very petite (and I suppose the hairstyle), heh...

Just saw it a couple days ago in Dolby Cinema... and it's apparently composed for 1.9:1 IMAX (or maybe plain 1.85:1), so it was pillarboxed on the Dolby 2.4:1 screen. Kinda waste of screen real estate and wish I had sat at least another row closer because of that.
I might try seeing it again...
Personally, I buy extremely few Arrow releases (other than their digitals on Apple/iTunes that, interestingly, tend to frequently go on sale for less than most digitals). I definitely have waaaay more Criterion (or Kino or Powerhouse/Indicator import... or probably even Eureka import) discs...
I'm still working out my own transition, but yeah, I've been gradually moving towards something along those lines as well... plus now adding AMC A-List to my plate (to go to theaters waaaay more than I ever did) so I can just watch some of those likely-once-and-done films on top of those I'd...
I guess you didn't do much shopping during the last BF season... as that did briefly drop down to ~$10 (at Best Buy... and pretty sure Amazon matched it) -- that's when/how I bought my copy.
But yeah, it's quite possible we won't ever get such deals again even during BF season going forward...
FWIW, as I just mentioned in the digital deals thread, I finally decided to just write a review for the AppleTV app (in their App Store) to complain about some key problems w/ it (and briefly comparing it to iTunes app). I suggest others do the same.
