If you love the movie, you should be quite pleased. At 120" on my 2.37:1 screen, I was sucked right in. Very emotional film, and has always been one of my favorites. Highly recommended.
I just don't understand the point of posting so much about a movie you hate. Life's too short to waste your time. Personally, this is probably my second favorite movie of all time after "Once". It's a wonderful film.
I bought it and just watched a few scenes. I had my hopes low and it's pretty decent. I have a Panasonic lcd projector and a 120" screen. I admit to not being an expert or very picky, but I was pleased. I'd probably give it a 3.5/5 for picture. The sound isn't bad, but it's only a 2.0 DTS...
It looks like it is the theatrical version, according to Robert and all of the running time listings I've seen from other reviews. I'm SO glad, I was never a fan of the extended cut. I know this movie so well and all of those scenes just stuck out like sore thumbs. The worst being when they go...
Great review, however I need to correct you. It was Gwyneth Paltrow who won over Cate for Best Actress. Judi Dench won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for that year.
Great review. I can see your point about the video quality, but I think it looks quite nice. I think it's a good representation of the film as seen in theaters. I think they were going for a more stylized look, and with the low-budget nature of the film, I think this is about as good as we're...
I'm still waiting on even a WIDESCREEN edition of Bridges of Madison County. In 10 years of DVD, it's never been released in its proper aspect ratio. I find that pretty strange, it was a hit if I remember correctly. I'd also love True Romance, as well.
So silly. It makes no sense to me to watch a zoomed in, 480p presentation. Why spend the money on very expensive Blu Ray equipment and an HDTV to NOT watch it in high-def? This is highly illogical.
HD DVD. Much better price, and unlike Bluray, it was a FULLY finished product. I love all the br guys talking up their already obsolete players. Makes me giggle.
It's just a matter of time before HD DVD/BD take off. More and more people are buying HDTV'S, and in a couple/few years analog broadcasts will be no more. With all the potential HDTV'S can offer, one day people will want to get the most out of their tv's. Prices will come down, hundreds or...
"I only say this to go on record so I can collect in a month - not to offend you nutzos that posted your admiration so far - I'll be back to collect." If we're "nutzos" than you're an old stick in the mud. :)
GREAT MOVIE! I'm thinking the Pamela Anderson part was staged, but if so, it was very well done. Anyone know if she was in on the joke? Her security team seemed pretty bad if it wasn't staged. haha.
Hi, i'd read that when the Toshiba's first came out, the HDMI pic quality was lacking. Did the firmware upgrade correct this? Is the pic quality comparable to component now? I just find it very easy and convenient to just have the one cord to plug in. :)
"I'll be passing on probably all of these, tho I might enjoy seeing Sky Captain again at some point-if only as a rental. But I'm still excited about the announcment as it means that a Grease HD DVD day and date with the new dvd may be a more distinct possibility." Really? Is there a new...
Thanks! I knew there had to be something like that, this is exactly what I was looking for. :) Now, how much are these suckers? haha. In any case, when I'm ready for this, I'll just have to find an expert to guide me through and install it all. I don't want to mess around. Thanks again.
I've noticed you can purchase projection screens in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Are there lenses you can attach to digital front projectors that would make watching 1.85:1, 1.78:1, and 1.66:1 aspect ratios possible on these w i d e screens? I think it would be ideal if the "black bars" for these...
Finally saw my first demo at a local Best Buy. Hooked up to a 42" Westinghouse LCD. I thought it looked great! I stood there for about a half an hour just staring at it. Saw trailers for King Kong, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Batman Begins, Van Helsing...all looked amazing. It's going to...
I'd buy the perfect storm if I had a hd-dvd player but Constantine sucked bad. I only finished it because I was watching it with a friend and didn't want to be rude.
I think it's really a no-brainer. 1080P vs. 1080i. Plus of all the support Blu-Ray is getting, not to mention the reported higher quality images and storage capacity. I read recently of the price they may charge on new and catalog titles and it seems fair. Isn't it just a matter of time for...
I read somewhere that it contained the 91 minute theatrical version and the 101 minute extended version (with the scenes shot for television in it). If that's not true, cool. I just want the theatrical version with more bitspace for the picture.
Is the new dvd going to have the 2 versions via seamless branching or have both versions on dual layers? I hope it's seamless branching, that will alleviate the "blocking" that I noticed on the limited edition version.
