Responsible tipes number 1, 2, and 3...no problem.
But number 4 is what I've never understood. Any burn-in I've ever seen is the result of bright colors etching themselves into the phosphors. How can black be responsible for burn? What is "excessive" viewing of letterboxed movies?
Right now...
When set to compression mode, does the TV create black or grey bars?
I know I've read that 16x9 compression is user controllable, but will the tv allow it to be turned on with 480i and 480p or does it only work on 1080i?

Ian
If one can hook a computer up to the vga input on an RPTV, what's with the warning that usually is written right next to the jack? Usually it's something warning against just that..saying serious damage can occur. Does this damage have something to do with different refresh rates between the...
Matt,
Good to hear you're pleased with your new set. (Any chance of posting comparison pics?)

Area of 5" DVD: 19.6 square inches.
Area of 12" LD: 113 square inches.
Considering a single sided, single layer DVD can hold 4.37gb of data, that's 223 megs...
Yikes! Just found all your pics on another post..they're frightening.
I can't believe cable could possibly look better than LD.
Mike, thanks for the suggestion, but when I upgrade there's no way I'd pick 4x3.
I'd still like to hear opinions from anyone else who has run LDs on the Tosh or...
Hi guys,
I own about 70 LDs. I'm considering purchasing one of the above RPTVs. According to a few of Matt Stevens' posts, the 47WX49 looks like trash with LDs. Is he just heavily exaggerating?
Also, 50H81 owners: how do LDs look on your set?
True LDs are recorded in...
