Bert, I have the cube version and it definitely has a 16x9 screen mode, in addition to 4x3& 4x3 letterbox. I think you can't change it during a game. Before you start a game, go to system settings, visual setting and choose from the three settings.
According to NintendoPhiles, http://www.n-philes.com/php/epyplkyelfefpaklayaf.php Great News for Nintendo, hopefully this means more Square-Enix games on Cube. I can't wait for this game!
but GC is just a total failure They have sold roughly the same number of consoles [9.4 million or so] as Microsoft. Is the Xbox also a total failure? The Cube has sold less than projected but saying it's a total failure is a bit harsh.
Treasure, for creating Gunstar Heroes, Guardian Heroes, Yu Yu Hakusho[fighting game], Alien Soldier, and more recently Ikaruga. Tons of great shooters. Also SNK is another favorite.
AMC supported letterbox a lot more in the past. I remember watching some great Hammer films letterboxed. What happened to them? That channel stinks now [IMO].
If their are 400 PS2 games on the market. That means that 5 percent of hardcore gamers own 100 games each. That sounds a lot more than 20+ would seem to suggest.
I'm glad MS stuck to their guns and basically told EA that it was MS way or the highway. It seems the other way around, the highway just happens to be the market leader, Sony.
Yeah, but that 5% probably buys 25%+ of the software sold. That sounds a little farfetched to think that 5%, any 5%, buys a quarter of every title sold.
The point I'm trying to make is that it might be premature to call Nintendo's online strategy [or lack of]a clear mistake or wrong, right now. Not including dvd playback was clearly a mistake. Not giving more attention to increasing the number of mature titles is a mistake. Not giving more...
If Sony's online model proves to be what companies like EA, Activision, Eidos, etc. want, then what becomes of MS live and the millions they've spent building it. Not saying that MS won't be successful, it's just that it's a tough decision that Nintendo didn't want to make right now. If Sony's...
Aside from being compact and occasionally supporting better graphics than PS2, what is the advantage to having it? Being able to play Nintendo first party games.
Sony have sold 2.4 million PS2 Network Adaptors so far.. Grand Theft Auto 3 for the PS2 and PC sold more than 7 million copies by itself. Sony has sold 50 million+ PS2's, is 2.4 million really a huge percentage. Off the top of my head isn't that less than 5% of PS2 owners.
Neversoft is also making Tony Hawk Underground, only online on the PS2. The reason they gave for going PS2 online is Microsoft's grip on Xbox live and Sony's more hand's off aproach. This was mentioned in the June issue of Game Informer, page 45. From what I've read, EA doesn't like Microsoft's...
If this is the case, anybody with a hacked XBox not only will have to stay offline, they will have to never put an official disc into their console. Even if they can make their Xbox look Stock at the flick of a switch. I'm not sure, but I believe most modded Xbox's can do that.
Nintendo will have learned from Microsoft's mistakes, sure, but they'll also have to start out at a higher level than MS did. One thing that Nintendo can learn immediately is to lay off. This alone will get them EA, Activision, and likely Midway games online. Is Xbox live going to be...
For Nintendo, I have long harped that they are behind the times. Yes, all consoles have sequels, but GTA3 and Halo came out in the current generation (GTA3 really was the spiritual first for what it is today IMHO.) Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc. all arrived in the 1980s! The 1980s!!! I'll head down...
It's called growing pains. Microsoft and Sony are getting those out of the way now, instead of when it REALLY matters. And Nintendo can't learn from their mistakes. They are FORCED to repeat them. Speaking about the Next Gen, everyone starts at zero. They will have to build a user base all...
When Nintendo unveils their next console all that technology and expanded user base will be available to them. Why lose money now, if things are going to be so much better in a year or two, which happens to be when the new consoles are likely to hit the market. You seem to validate Nintendo's...
by the time online gaming hits 'the big time', Sony and MS will likely have a lock on that market segment. I doubt online gaming will hit the big time in this generation of consoles. Next Generation, maybe. I also doubt brand loyalty and recognition will carry over. It didn't help Nintendo...
Pokemon console titles have not blown socks off in quality or quantity sold. According to NPD TRSTS, Pokemon Stadium {N64]was the highest selling console game across all systems for 2000 [4th overall]. It was behind Pokemon Silver, Gold, and Yellow GBC, overall. I'm not a big Pokemon fan but...
Older News but not that old. Late 2002. According to Dengeki, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire sold 1.3 MILLION units in the stores that report their numbers... in just three days, even! (11/21 - 11/24) Dengeki only tracks 50% of Japanese stores, so potentially there were around 2-2.5 million...
. indeed they were the first to standardize, but their "mushroom" snapped off after the least use, and the entire N64 controller was an ergonomic nightmare. The mushroom snapped off on YOUR N64 controller, even though you've never owned one. I don't like wireless controllers. I really...
I also don't think they're throwing a funeral. I agree to some extent but if you were in charge of Nintendo with a Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Soul Calibur, F-Zero, and [I hate to say it] Pokemon yet to be released, would you panic? Nintendo is also under Iwata, who hasn't been afraid to admit...
