I agree, in wall speakers generally suck. You'd want to mount normal speakers on the wall or on stands near the wall, but avoid the in-wall speakers if at all possible.
As was already said, the two inputs are just summed internally, since they are just going to one subwoofer. The only real change you get from the Y splitter is as Robert said, you cut the signal strength in half. That's not particularly important provided the voltage isn't getting too anemic...
I am assuming the TV has a standard pair of line level outs? Just hook those up to the input on the dvd player. I would first go into the TV's audio settings and make sure that any internal "surround" processing or anything of that nature is disabled, as it typically just muddles up the signal...
Amazing looking drivers John, I hope you do very well with them. I don't know if anyone can convince me to sell my HE-15 though, works damned well for HT use, and with a 40hz@18dB/octave crossover, inductance peaking at 70hz isn't a particularly large concern for me. :)
Very interesting thread guys. That's definitely a very interesting subwoofer, Dan. By Qts standards it definitely falls right in the middle, and I do tend to prefer that to EBP. :)
