I updated my review to be more specific: "A problem that has occurred in every home video release of RHPS, is that the "Time Warp flashback" scenes near the end of the film are mistakenly 'color-corrected' from their intentional blue tint. Unfortunately, for the first time, this not only...
Thanks! I tried to include every pertinent detail in the review. The cutaway AP segments from the DVD release are not included on the new Blu-ray. What IS on the Blu-ray is a text-based AP track. As far as PiP, that would be the new shadowcast performance only.
Just FYI... Fox has sent us the info on the Blu-ray release, set for October 19th. Here's some links: News Story: http://www.rockyhorror.com/news/article.php?p=2010080201 Press Release: http://www.rockyhorror.com/news/pr_bluray.php
Yes, and when they consistently do a poor job, they should be avoided en masse. Does anyone know if the discs I mentioned show the authoring company, maybe at the end of the film?
Not for nothing, but is there any way of finding out which vendors are creating which discs for the studios? I have a feeling that if we had this info, we could see who's authoring quality discs (Forrest Gump, Braveheart) as opposed to Paramount's less stellar output (The Truman Show, Gladiator...
Heh, we're lucky to get the original mixes at all. I've been ranting about this for a few years now, and some studios *cough*Universal*cough* don't bother to put any original mixes on their Blu-rays.
I don't get why studios have to subscribe to the idea that everything has to be in 5.1 and only...

In a flier first posted on the main page of the popular Rocky Horror site Cosmo's Factory and confirmed by 20th Century Fox, RHPS will come to the Blu-ray hi-def disc format sometime in 2010.
The flier announced auditions to be included...
I'll go ahead and say it, I don't like a lot of the original mixes. Everything pushed off to one channel (i.e. Eleanor Rigby, all strings in the left channel and almost all vocals in the right channel), gives me a headache listening to it on headphones.
That being said, a multichannel high-res...
I can't wait to have this on Blu-ray. Contact was the first DVD I bought back in February 1998, along with a $350 (!) first generation DVD player from Zenith. It wasn't a very good player, but I was thrilled just to be able to watch one of my favorite films (at the time) on DVD. Wow, how...
That's exactly what I thought about when I read the article. Just because the audio's not 5.1 on a particular title doesn't mean it shouldn't be lossless. I don't get that logic, since a track with less channels should theoretically take up less disk space than a comparable 5.1 track...
Speaking of Dreamworks, we're coming up on the 10-year anniversary of American Beauty, as well as a few other titles. I do wish Paramount would get some of these out on Blu-ray.
Seems i was close to the mark... This from The Digital Bits: ...Warner's Beetlejuice: 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (due 9/16). Speaking of which, we've got some details for you on Beetlejuice as well. The DVD (SRP $19.96) will feature the film fully remastered in anamorphic widescreen...
The original DVD had: - A music-only audio track - Text-based production notes - Theatrical trailer I'm slightly annoyed, but I can understand them not wanting to do the audio track thing. A redux with Danny Elfman commentary between the music would be nice though. A Tim Burton...
That's what DVR is for... I watched Armed and Dangerous on UHD last night in all it's ridiculous 80's glory, OAR and commercial-free. Addams Family and Addams Family Values are on this weekend!
Speaking of Clerks 2, do you know if there are any plans to release it on Blu-ray? I look forward to the day when I can have a Kevin Smith Blu-ray marathon... and Dogma and J&SBSB are a good start!
Which makes things, for instance, annoying for PS3 owners. Why can't they use PCM or Dolby TrueHD? Since the lossless compressed formats should sound identical, I think it's just plain silly at 1) there are still two competing formats, and that 2) One studio has to use a different format than...
Now that Universal (one of the biggest offenders in this arena) has decided to release on Blu-Ray, let's hope they do a little better with their audio as well.
