    ACI Maestro...

Craig I hope you are going to start a new thread for the up coming tests; this poor thread is sooo long now I doubt anyone would have time to read it all, before retirement. Looking forward to reading your up coming informative posts, on some class subs.

You've got a tumult and over RMS power to drive it - what enclosure do you build?

Hi Mattak I am using a Tumult in a ported design tuned to 15Hz, the problem I had was it was great for HT but rather average for music, bloated in the lower frequencies. The plate amp came standard with a 20Hz subsonic filter, changing this to 14Hz improved the music reproduction night & day...

Krix Seismix 3 Mk2 Subwoofer review

Another brilliant review Ed. Very informative and easy to read and understand.

How to set up 4 subs?

Mark, Ahhh now I see the problem, you know for years I have been reading posts from audio gurus about how good some subs are at reproducing the "Thwack" of the kick drum, and yet I have never experienced this phenomena. A friend of mine plays bass in a band. A couple of weeks ago he was...

How to set up 4 subs?

Mark As Thomas & Wayne have pointed out adding more subs also adds more issues. Good on you for wanting to find out and experiment, just realise that you will need to add additional equipment to be able to set up each sub properly. As an example I run 5x subs in my room, 4x at the front...

    What makes a sub musical?

Fantastic thread guys and special thanks to Mark & Ed for the brilliant posts, although some information bypassed the brain and went through to the wicket keeper. Just like to add a small experience I had with one of my subs, I was not happy with its musical response, as compared to the rest...

    Suggestions for dual sub setup

Hi Tom, As per both Seth & Roberts’s replies, Location & Calibration are going to be the main things you need to get right initially. You should measure your in room response for each sub and also with both going, (Leave your main speakers off for this first test); this will then show you...

    BFD 1124P or

John, The BFD is a fantastic unit, and if you get a midi adaptor for your computer setting it up is a breeze via the software. There are a couple of things you need to be mindful of. 1: The display is bright and cannot be dimmed, a friend of mine cut up some old x-rays and covered the...

John, You may be better waiting for R-Des to get released, it is being developed for AV123, and here is some info from ACI's site who will also be selling it. R-Des @ ACI

    To whom it may concern.......

Tasmania, lovely place pity about the two heads though:D Audio prices are much better these days, although still expensive compared to the US. Sydney, great place to visit, very expensive to live there and property has gone through the roof.

    Rocket Canada ....

Craig I don't know what to say, other than you must go with what you feel is right for you and your family. This has been said many times before, these are just speakers, and we after all are just humans. I am glad you are still going to do the odd review, I also think you should stick to...

Ultra driver vs. Plus driver text...

Thanks for the response Mark... Very interesting read as always, you have mentioned the Bessel filters before and I thank you for sharing this information. The Behringers operate in a similar way in that the software is configurable from 20Hz up but passes frequencies below, how far and to...

Ultra driver vs. Plus driver text...

Mark The QSC looks like a nice device, still only operates from 20Hz up though... Frank This is the problem you are going to face with any of these units is being able to measure your in room response properly and understand what you are looking at, I am not implying you are not...

    DEQ2496 Help.

Frank It is my belief that you will be using the DCX2496, for your subs only, if this is the case then the Samson & Crowns will work fine as they are pro amps. Re the Lexicon I am guessing that this drives your speakers, this is what will be providing the LFE signal input of the DCX, you...

    DEQ2496 Help.

Hi Frank, If you are using a pro amp to drive your subs then these will allow for enough adjustment not to require any additional attenuation. As I mentioned above most if not all plate amps are designed for consumer line level input and don't have enough adjustment to drop the input level...

    DEQ2496 Help.

Brian Thanks for the kind words, and yes Behringer do have some good stuff, but according to the Pro crowd it is rubbish. All I can say it does what I need it to do and you just gotta love those flashing lights :D Ainsworth Thanks for your kind words, flattery will get you every...

    DEQ2496 Help.

Hi Ainsworth, If you want to get the best out of the DEQ you will need to up the level of the signal going into it, and yes the meter does show the input level, I mainly use the one on the LCD screen as it has peak reading so when I set the input levels I increase them until clipping occurs...

    ACI Maestro...

Sorry Craig for hijacking your thread :b Frank 1) Pro gear operates at nom +4dB where as consumer gear at nom -10dB, I was using mine fine from the LFE out of my pre/pro, only trouble is when you increase the gain on the input you must attenuate the output somehow, both of these are easy...

Frank... I get the feeling that my posts are a bit of a waste these days, several members haven't bothered responding to PM's, and others well... Maybe I need a shower, or could be bad breath :) Anyway, if you have a PC at home you can download the software for the unit I mentioned on the...

Hi Frank, If you want to play with band/low/high pass filters for your subs, the Behringer DCX2496 is not a bad little toy, it can control 6 individual subs at one time. Also has a lot of other smarts as well. A couple of negatives are requires pro level signals for best performance...

B4+ Where are the other two drivers?

Hi David Another alternative for an interim or long term solution is the use of a shelving filter. The Behringer Ultracurve Pro DEQ2496 and Ultradrive Pro DCX2496 have the ability to program these types of Dynamic EQ filters as well as parametric EQ. Basically you program the...

    BFD Inputs

As per post #3, use a Y connector on the input of the BFD, use only a single out either left or right of the BFD to your sub and use the couple mode of the BFD to mirror the filters.
