I own the 36xbr400 and I am about 8-9 feet away. Perfect size! I would be disappointed in anything smaller and I compared bigger sets and found them difficult to watch that close. I watch a combination of regular cable and DVDs. Not too big for regular tv and just right for letterboxing...
