I think that the Logitech Z-680's would probably be the best bet. They beat most of the HTiB systems in that price range, IMHO... You all should go listen to them before speaking up about this, lol! You might need to help pitch in with a coaxial or optical cable, tho...
Hey, if you want good passive noise cancelling, try the Sennheiser HD280 Pro for $85. Then tell me how good any of the Bose headphones or the Sony V600's are...
Uhm, Aton, the MDR-V600 really sucks, the Bose really sucks, and unless you get the right model, the Sennheiser is hit and miss..
Go check out www.headphone.com
There are many FAR better noise cancelling headphones out there than the Bose QuietComforts... and there are many FAR better closed headphones than the Bose Triports (which are the QC's minus the active noise cancelling technology)... If you say what your needs will be, what equipment you will...
Open aired means that it pretty much just is infinite baffle, i believe... it just lets the sound go out the other side. *chuckles* this means it blocks no outside ambient sound. If you want something for lan tournaments, dont get Grado's... do you want something to block out external noise or...

Remember, if asking @ head-fi, tell them if you want open air headphones, closed back headphones, what you will be driving them with, where you will be using them, what sources you have, if you wish to buy a dedicated headphone amplifier, etc. etc...
Well, are you having problems with generic cables yet? If not, than keep generics. If you have maybe a $10,000 system, or if you are having problems with generics, than the "high end" ones would work...
Logitech Z-680 ($360, without a DVD player) is what I would get. Hook that sucker up to your computer, a dvd player, an xbox, a playstation 2, a vcr, a gamecube, etc. etc. nice!! Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS, 6 channel analog inputs, etc. etc.... VERY nice!! and you can mount...
The only one that you can use for games is the Logitech Z-680. It is the only one that has the fully bass managed 5.1 analog inputs that modern games require. Trust me, the Z-680 is the best Home Theater in a Box that I know of.
Headphone.com has the best customer service and return policy of any internet company I've seen... (well, that is, they tie with *one particular* other company I know.. :) )
Chris.... that was SCARY.... egad, don't *do* that.. If this IS real, it's interesting to see what a rookie sales guy is... this doesnt seem to be their usual rhetoric, but is either a fraud (you didnt give a link...) or he is *really* a rookie...
Naw, i've met plenty of people on this forum or that forum who are these Bose dudes, and they curse a lot... must be an unwanted side effect of the brainwashing process... I mean, there was this one guy called Nashman from the 3dsoundsurge forums... whew... those were the days...
3Dsoundsurge, which is, imo, *the* best multimedia review website, has posted an EXTREMELY interesting and extensive review of the Diva Swan M-200 multimedia speakers. Check it out!

Kudos to Mark Muschett for such an awesome review!
Basic Black, no frills, inexpensive? Sounds like Axiom to me... Why not post a picture of the room for everyone to see, so we can make suggestions? What does she think of Norh?
So, lets say tat someone gets approached by these people.. What should you do? Is there any way to help with the investigation of the ripoffs? Dial 911 with your cell phone, and then do your best, by feigning interest in their product, to keep the white van people in the area??
What about a Rocket setup from av123.com? I'm sure you could get something nice for $1500... especially if you wait for their sub to come out, they'd give you a nice package price, probably... Hopefully (I dunno, i'd have to ask sean...) Rocket RS250 Mains Rocket RSC100 Center Rocket...
That's okay -- are 'normal' sized bookshelves alright? Could you describe the dimensions of the room and the seating area, where walls are and such? Lots of speakers are wall mountable... Ideally, the front speakers might be mounted on the wall in front of you, as bookshelves, and the rear...
So you have a DVD player, you have a reciever that can do DTS and DD5.1, and you are looking for a physically small 5.1 speaker system consisting of 5 unamplified bookshelf-type speakers and an active sub to complete the system for $1200, right?
