I don't really think it can be classified as hard SciFi though. I think it's more accurate to describe it as an epic adventure/fantasy/love story with some hard SciFi elements in it.
Cameron said in an interview that he believes it will have broad appeal. In a way, this IS Cameron's Star Wars...
I think Eli sends the message "puss" and Oscar replies with the same. It means "kiss". This particular word is often used in the sense of a innocent, cute or brief kiss.
I think Jackson was always more concerned with making a good movie first and foremost (that's his responsibility), and being faithful to the book second. I hope Guillermo del Toro approaches The Hobbit in the game way.
Having said that, I think LOTR is very faithful to the spirit of the books...
Hmm... I don't buy this, there's nothing in the film that suggests that Tyrell is fascinated with Deckard, at least not that I can remember. And if the test is about Deckard, wouldn't Tyrell want to stay during the test and observe Deckard? If I remember correctly, Tyrell is not present during...
rich_d, I think it's made very clear in the movie that Rachael is indeed a replicant. 1. Tyrell has no reason to lie within the context of the film (bringing up noir/detective is a weak point IMHO), and I think it's pretty clear he is curious to see if Deckard will spot this new advanced...
Dan, I understand what you mean, and I agree with you to some extent. I just think it's a bit unfair to post this complaint in a thread about a Pixar movie. That's all. And the "sameness" you speak of is not the fault of computer animation, since you are truly free to create any look you can...
I find it very strange to find a comment like this in a Pixar movie thread. If there's one thing they're known for, it's their passion and obsession with quality in both the storytelling and the animation. Besides, laziness in the writing has nothing to do with CGI and everything to do...
Here's a very amusing report from Rich "Lowtax" Kyanka about his impressions from the set of Boll's upcoming flick "Postal" among other things. Sounds absolutely crazy. For instance:
You can read the whole thing here: http://www.somethingawful.com/index.php?a=4120 (Part II will cover his...
There's a sequence in Triple X 1 or 2 where a car is driving along railroad tracks that's sooo bad. It really looked like a crappy intro to a video game. Whatever happened to physical effects? I guess a movie gets the effects it deserves...
Making a 300 (?!) minute remake out of the lean 100 minute original would be really stupid. Making a 180 minute film with more developed characters and intricate relationships out of the material found in the original doesn't sound that stupid to me though. And I doubt Univeral would release a...
Why? What makes it unsuitable for live-action? Halo is pretty much an action game, and IMO action is much more engaging if it's shot live-action and has real people you care about (The Incredibles is the exception...great movie). Final Fantasy was lifeless for me, even the action sequences. I...
Looks like a 2-disc set with all the production diaries will be released in region 1 this December... http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?...7833&n=1&burl=
I think the production diaries already clock in over 5 hours total... and if I'm not mistaken, a separate crew is producing a series of documentaries for the DVD, similar to those found on the LOTR:EE.
Why couldn't the aliens have dumped the tripods via some automated procedure all those years ago? The tripods could have been protected and contained in some capsule that drilled itself deep into the earth on impact. I assumed they had been buried deep (so no one would find them) and that they...
What about: - "We go to Germany with Son of Kong and he helps us defeat Hitler" - Albino Kong - "Mount a couple of browning machine guns on Son of Kong's shoulders" :)
People born today may find downloading movies very natural 20 years from now. And I don't think they will have any trouble filling out their free time either. :)
I think the first movie stands on it's own relatively well (better than I initially thought it would). But the 2:nd and 3:rd? I would not say they stand on their own that well, and they were never intended to to that. Also, I think these movies will be mainly sold as one package and be viewed...
Requiem for a Dream?! I can understand that you don't like the movie, it is bleak and depressing, and may not be to everyone's taste. And I don't doubt you enjoyed it less than Scary Movie. But your comment makes it sound like you thought RFAD had terrible acting, awful screenplay...
If I was a CGI-artist I would probably be rather offended by that remark. And you actually build physical models most of the time before going into the virtual realm as well. I cannot see why keyframe animation on a computer is less creative or painstaking than the old stop motion technique. Or...
