If the remote worked to change the input, then that should have worked. I would think either the output is not enabled, or the cable is bad. Do you have some other source to check the cable? Like an old DVD player or something? You could connect it and try playing a DVD and see if you get any...
Did you get the instruction manual with the system? From the manual, it says to connect an optical cable directly from the digital out on the satellite receiver to the Digital Audio In Optical connection on the back of the Samsung. Then you have to use the Function button (it looks like you have...
Uhmmmmm, who has the problem with math? You posted on 9/26, then 14 hrs later posted that you didn't want us to help anymore and were going somewhere else...think David's math is pretty good, bye now.
That's funny, we've only been in this house about 3 years and we've had a couple of ghostly events (nothing close to this) so the thought briefly crossed my tired mind as I was doggedly trying to go to sleep that night... if it wasn't for the xbox still being dead and all of my gear still being...
The strangest thing happened Saturday night. It started Saturday afternoon. We had friends over and our sons were upstairs in the media room playing Xbox. They decided to leave and went up to check out my gear before they left. We were watching the kids play Halo and the Xbox froze up, not a...
7.1 with 2 rear/back. It's kind of overkill in the room we have it in now, but both of our previous homes were custom built with much larger media rooms. You don't really get the full effect of the 7.1 unless there is good separation between the side and back in my humble opinion, but I have...
I hate to tell you this, but the blu-ray player that you bought is just that, it plays blu-rays and DVD's, it is not a complete home theater package that acts as a receiver and DVD player. You will need a receiver, or need to somehow route sound back through your old system to be able to get...
I'll definitely come back here when it comes time to place my order. Sorry to join the minority, but I also enjoyed all 6 films. I didn't say I liked them all equally, but I didn't even like the first three equally...
I've had receivers from Denon, Onkyo and even a B&K. I do also have a Yamaha 4 chanel amp that powers my outdoor speakers, although I've never owned one of their receivers. My current receiver is an Onkyo 876. I was in the same dilemma as you a couple years ago. After doing a lot of reading...
Today, there is a Fifth Element Blu-ray that says it is th remastered version for $8.99. Moon was a very interesting film, my wife and I both enjoyed it a lot.
I believe it's somewhere around 5,000 hours, IIRC. They're down to $99 bucks now, direct from Mits, and I understand it's a very easy swap, so that's not much of a concern anymore.
Thanks Gregg, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a new 65838 on Saturday. Amazon was running some unbelievable prices over the weekend on that model. Amazon actually pulled their price back up by the time I had decided, but two of their vendors that had good feedback still had that price...
Our 10 yr old Mits 55" RPTV is starting to have problems with the red convergence. I know at 10 yrs old, it's really not worth getting it fixed because something else is probably just waiting to go out. Our money situation isn't quite as good as it was when we dropped $2,500 on it and had it...
Yep, I auctioned my Acoustimass system, and even though they had some wear on the cloth that covers the grills, I still got 60% or more of what I paid for them years earlier. I would second that suggestion. You should be able to get close to enough to buy the new speakers, but you may have to...
I take it you mean the TX-SR706 from Onkyo. If so that would be my suggestion, even though it is last years model, I would prefer it for the Audyssey sound processing. Yes, I believe you can run a zone 2 from this receiver and still run the 7.1. I'll try to verify that later for you.
None of the above. Onkyo or Denon would be my choice just for the Audyssey processing. That's just my opinion. I'm sure there are others who would disagree, but I've owned both and they were great and I would not look at any receiver that did not have Ausyssey at least at this point in time.
Looks like you have a good selection there. Personally, I prefer Onkyo and Denon. It's really not a fair comparison without engaging the various processing and room correction available on each receiver. Maybe I'm wrong, but I kinda doubt that the Magnolia guys took the time to go through the...
I would second looking at some of the internet direct subs. I would also recommend also looking at either Onkyo or Denon receivers over the Yamaha. The biggest difference would be the Audyssey sound processing. You can find a lot of information about it by doing a search.
You don't really need floor-standing speakers for surrounds, in fact, as long as you have a dedicated sub, you don't really need them for any of your speakers. Good "bookshelf" speakers will cover the audio spectrum above what the subwoofer can reproduce. If you like to listen to a lot of...
You can use smaller speakers and mount them on the walls instead of using in-wall speakers. They tend to sound much better than in-walls, and as mentioned, they are easier to relocate, and to take with you if you move. It would also be very hard to timber-match an in-wall speaker to the rest...
Make sure you are getting the Denon from an authorized dealer also. It would be worth waiting a little longer and paying a bit more to ensure you get the warranty. I would also agree with choosing the Denon out of the two options.
Never heard of Gale, so I would be leery. The energy system is a great suggestion. I've seen them going from time to time for very good prices. Amazon occasionally has great prices on the Take 5 classic with a sub. You can get much better subs, but for the prices I've seen on some of the...
Another vote for the Onkyo. I have the 876 and love it. I can't imagine that it wouldn't be able to drive your speakers as loud as you could possibly want unless your HT is in an outdoor arena. I've owned Denon and B&K in the past, and this more than stacks up to both. I have a Yamaha two...
