    Pvr 721

Thaks for the comments. I think I'm interested in getting a PVR501. I've started searching and there doesn't seem to be anything better than Dish's $349 price. If anyone has suggestions, I would appreciate it. Perhaps those of you waiting for the 721 will be in luck. As soon as I buy a 501...

    Pvr 721

Thanks. Do you like the 501? It seems folks here generally like it and can put up with the little "quirks". I'm getting annoyed with my current receiver which will shutoff when changing channels too fast.

    Pvr 721

Okay, so it was supposed to be released by the end of last year. It's April, what's the latest word? My current receiver has smearing colors and it has crashed on me numerous times (requiring unplugging the power supply). The receiver is the basic model from several years ago. Something must...

    funniest moments in TV history

So what's the background on the "on-set shoot"? I recall laughing at the scene as well, although I don't particularly recall the quote. Sure wish I could pop it in the player and check it out....

    funniest moments in TV history

Wow, how many posts did it take to mention All In the Faily? My first thought was Archie and Sammy Davis. As for Frasier, my wife and I still talk about the Niels skit in a Valentines episode. He's fixing dinner and ironing his suit. I was rolling on the floow through whatever show was after it!

    Hitchcock fans-help!

A nicley restored version of TCaT would be awesome. I've been waiting for this movie since I first saw it a few years ago. I can't wait for DMfM as well.

DISH - new local channel numbers?

What is going on with the channel numbers? I normally watch my local stations on channels in the 700s. But I recently noticed they are also in the 8000s series (4000s?) of numbers. Is there a difference? Are we supposed to migrate to the new channels? The only differenc appears to be the...

    Drums on DVD

This might not be what you are looking for, but there is a drumb/marching band stage show called Blast!. You can learn more about it at http://www.blasttheshow.com/. Although it doesn't appear on their website, I know they have a DVD of the show. Very amazing show!

What is Dish Doing to Support Local into Local?

I've been wondering what/when local PBS stations I'll get with DISH. I miss both of my local PBS channels. I'll probably give them a call some time soon. What is local-in-local at DirecTV?

    DISH receive updates, how?

Thanks Nathan. That doesn't appear to work for my parents. Maybe I'm ahead of the game becuase of the installation? Anyone else get these updates on their 3800? I would have to double check their update setup. I know mine is set for automatic (no permission required) updates. Thanks for...

    DISH receive updates, how?

I'm curious about how "software" updates are done on DISH receivers. Are they automatically downloaded? Or do they occur only over the phone line? Must the receiver be on or off? I'm curious because, at my previous house, I always left the receiver on. We moved and had the service on hold...

Dish Network newbie to be - comments welcome

Thanks for the info. Now I suspect the new two tuner models will be too pricey for me. A real bummer since two programs of interest currently air at the same time.

Dish Network newbie to be - comments welcome

Leo, I'm about to move to a new house and am thinking of taking this opportunity to upgrade to Dish PVR. One thing my wife and I have a problem with is recording one channel and watching another at the same time. Does the Dish PVR allow that? I can't find that info on their web site. If it...

    Black bar on TNN gone?

I noticed that too, but I thought that before and bars reappeared. Next time, I won't flip past TNN! Thanks for the tip. :)

    Black Sheep Squadron?

I never saw the oringal airings, but I've caught it often in syndication. Great series. I watch it on History Channel when I can. I thought the series held up very well. Too bad it didn't last long. Was it just money, or just bad ratings. I guess both go hand in hand.

Star Trek II SE due later in 2002. We knew this was coming. :-)

So, I bet many people can't wait to see what Shatner intended in his movie STV. How many changes can they do to that movie? I'm glad Paramount is finally giving special treatment to the Star Trek movies, but I'm also glad I have mostly the original films before they're modified for special...

    Phil Collins/Genesis Dvd's

I wonder if the "We Can't Dance" DVD would be similar to the 2 CD release of live songs ("The Shorts" and "The Longs"). Listening to the drum duo on 5.1 would be awesome. :) I just happen to put those CDs in my car, so thanks for the timely news!

    Some Moving questions concerning Dishnetwork...

I asked this question some time ago (I'm about to move), and was told there were no obligations. I thought that was strange. If a year's subscription is required, I would understand. But the current DishMover program is advertised as ending Oct. 31. I'm expecting to move Nov./Dec. Does Dish...

    "Enterprise" - First Reviews

Well, I won't repeat what most have said already. The show does look interesting and is starting out better than any of the previous series. I was most impressed with the sets. I thought they were amazing. Obviously much hard work when into them. I was most impressed with the doors. They...

Has everyone forgotten? NEW Law and Order tonight?

Melencio Paras, Jr., read below: Spoiler:A women was mauled and killed in a public park by a dog trained to be extremely aggresive and dangerous. The police eventually track the ownership of the dog to a lawyer and CPA. The trial centered around the fact that the couple did not know the dog...

Which is better: British vs. Hollywood version of Strangers on a Train?

Is this what your looking for at the Link Removed ? I don't think they are considered spoilers. I haven't seen the film through it's entirety in the British version, but I think it does emphasize Bruno's attitudes a little more. If you've rented the British version, I suggest to watch it...

    Junkyard Wars..

I have only seen about half of an episode unfortunately. The shows looks exciting. I have a question, though. Do they really use 100% parts from the junkyard? In the only episode I watched (dragsters?), one team was bolting a tansmission to a rear axel and they had what looked like shiny new...

Loved North by Northwest... what else you recommend?

The Lady Vanishes, The 39 Steps, and Shadow of Doubt are a few more of my favorites. The Lady Vanishes is the "old" movie that sort of plunged me into older films and especially Hitchcock.
