It's a known problem with DLP TVs. If your rcvr supportws audio delay you can pretty much make it go away. I have the same TV in 50 inch, and it is the only fault I have with the TV. Bob
I have a 1050 and love it. It's a bit dated but if you can find a used one it would be a good buy. It has good power for most people and is well built. Bob
DVDs will stay around a long time. It's a case of diminishing returns. DVD video and audio is much better then VHS, and pretty much everybody can see it. HD DVD is better then DVD, but it is not nearly as obvious. For many people DVD is good enough. Until the prices are the same, a lot of people...
At that price range I would buy one of the Sonys. If you look around you can probably find them on sale somewhere. Keep it for a year or two until you can afford to upgrade to SVS or similar, and sell the Sony on ebay. That's what I did, and I ended up losing less then $100 after having it for...
Here is a writeup on what I did. email me if you have any questions. Bob I recently finished installing a whole house audio system. It turned out great and I thought I would describe it and give some pointers. My system is based on the Russound CA-6.4i multi room controller. This system...
I would try a couple of things before returning it. -Leave the speaker wires conencted and put the right speaker where the left is and vice versa. Rerun the tests and see what happens (Now the right amp is running the same speaker, but it is on the left) -Disconnect the speaker cables and...
Will it convert from composite to S-Video? My parents cable box only supports composite, and they would like to switch video through the receiver. They would hook up the DVD via S, Cable and VCR via composite, and hook the recvr to the TV via S. Thanks Bob
Have you tried another DVD player? I thought that some disks were bad, but it turned out that my older player was starting to fail. It would play some disks and not others. My new player has no problems with the same disks. Bob
I have RCA cables for audio from my cable box to my TV. Could I get a y adapter and run one set to my TV, and the other to my whole house audio system? If so, how far can I run RCA audio cables? I would probably need 100ft. Where is a good source for that length? Thanks Bob
Has anybody had any audio problems on Harry Potter COS? I bought a copy and tried to play it, and audio would play for about 10secs, and then silence for 3 secs, then good for 10 or 20secs and then a 3 second drop out and again and again. Video was fine. I returned the disc to Costco and got...
I thought the same thing at first until I realized that there was a power switch that wasn't on. :)
Also, calibration makes a big difference as already noted.

Santa brought me a pair of Studio 60s to be my new mains. I moved my 20s to be the surrounds, and I have an SVS 20-39PCi sub. I was looking for some advice on config: -Should I run the 60s as large or small? I had been using the 20s as the front and ran them as small, but I'm thinking that I...
How should I attach Paradigm Studio 20s and 40s to stands? Is double sided tape enough, or should I use screws? I'm a little afraid to drill into the speakers. I have the 20s now, and am looking at getting some 40s to use as the fronts. They seem to big to use just tape. Thanks Bob
I had one and really liked it. Eventually I sold it and bought an SVS which I really really love. The Sony will be a big improvement over not having one even without the mods. I'd say go ahead and get it, and try it. Later if you feel that you need to, go ahead and try the mods. I never did...
I was at Home Depot today to get speaker wire, and the lady said that they didn't sell 12g anymore, and had put it all on clearance. Turned out that they had 1 broken spool left and I got 150ft for $17. :)

Get the Sony. If you look around you can buy it for around $150, and it sounds a whole lot better then no sub. Save your money for a while, and eventually replace it with something better, and sell the Sony for $75. Bob
