So I futzed around with the three of these receivers today and unfortunately can only comment on the interfaces of them... I was at Best Buy and they just had them hooked to crappy stero speakers... I have to say the Pioneer was my least favorite to work with... it wasn't intuitive at all...

I'm able to aquire the Pioneer VSXD811S, Kenwood VR6060 and Yamaha HTR5560 all for about the same price... a little under $300... I'd like to hear which people would go with and why, keeping in mind that I'm upgrading from an ancient Sherwood Pro Logic receiver. I'll be mostly watching movies...

Thanks for the info, I'll look into the 811s as well as Simple Robots... Where did you find this retailer? They seem to have things for very cheap. Anyone else have suggestions? Comments? Thanks! :D

No comments on the Kenwood? I've been hearing in other threads that it's a real nice receiver for the price... Also, still interested in where to buy this stuff... Circuit City and Good Guys seem WAY over the online prices of some of this stuff... any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm requesting a Digital receiver for christmas and don't want to end up with a crappy sounding piece of crap, but the folks aren't exactly the richest people on the face of the planet. I figure something under $300 can sound good and would be in their price range. Right now I'm torn...
