You know.. those slip covers like The Usual Suspects and the baseball cover for Bull Durham. For some reason I thought Fiddler had one of those when it was first released as a "Special Edition," but now, I'm not quite sure. also.. hehe.. if somebody can help me on how to identify a "good"...
Jakey poo... you want something special.. go for the Chaplin box set from Warner's.. or the godfather trilogy.. and you need to come to me first when you have a serious question like this.. tisk tisk.
How about that Herzog/ Kinski box set? or the West Side Story box set either.. that's pure class. and I think that Criterion's Night and Fog has one of the most beautiful covers i have seen. While Synapse's Blue Sushine front and back rock! I'm done. :)
umm yeah... pretty much got into this movie by asking the women in charge of the sneak preview screening if she had anymore passes... she said she wasn't allowed to do what she was gonna do, but gave me two passes anyways. ...and HOLY SHIT! did i fall in love with this women. I have been an...
I couldn't believe how much I loved this film when I saw it in the theater. This is now my favorite spy film I've seen right behind Mission: Impossible. It felt so realistic. That scene in the hotle room between Damon and Potente felt real. I don't know what it was...but for me..(sorry guys...
Maybe they came to their senses and have decided to give this the Criterion treatment afterall.... or, I guess I could take a Vista Series:D
Here's hoping this isn't a mindless delay.
Heat
Batman 1&2
The Matrix hopefully...all the matrix films will be in this new Special Edition line
A Dog Day Afternoon
Goodfellas
BLADE RUNNER! God...I want this already! Hpefully the rumors are true...and this is really a three disc set instead!
and last but not least...my...
yep...it's a brand new spine #. I emailed Jon about this, sorry I don't have the letter(it was awhile ago). Though, the fact that it's a new spine # is a little dissapointing, especially because of the fact that now it seems Criterion will have the same movie in two places of there collection. I...
One recent film that has come out creeped me out to no end!
That is Mulholland Dr.
This is the only film that I believe makes no sense, but at the same time...I love it. And, again, it scared the SHIT out of me! You'll know what scene I'm talking about when you see it.
MAN/DINER!!!!
:D
I go by how DVDAF.com counts them which is exactly like Mike Eckman and Chris M. It counts the amount of items I have. Then... the amount of movies in the items altogether. so... TV = 1. Box sets = Amount of films in set. and 1 movie = 1 movie.
I wish this came out already... but I have hope now that Warner Bros. has their new 2-Disc Special Edition(horrible name, by the way!) line. Maybe we'll see this next year.
And I know Michael Mann's history with DVDs, but, there can always be hope.
;)
AMAZING!! JUST AMAZING!!
:star: :star: :star: :star: out of :star: :star: :star: :star:
The scene whereMax confronts John Rooney at the end had me almost in tears. I know he was the supposed bad guy, but Newman portrayed Rooney so well that I felt sorry. You could tell Mike and John still...
Well, I'm 16 and happen to think that Jonathan Demme is capable of good films (SOTL and Phili.)
I am also a fan of many Criterion titles and stumbled on to this film because of my love for all films that the CC chooses to be part in their collection. After I watched Charade I realized there...
What about an adaptation of SCUD: The Disposable Assassin ? God that would be a dream of mine. Maybe in CGI, ala Toy Story/ Final Fantasy? Though, I would love it if in a few years the technology improves to allow for a live action SCUD . God... If only Fincher directed this comic film, it would...
Saw a preview screening too... I totally agree.
Thank God it was free. Though I like seeing Steve Buscemi anywhere.
Save your money... keep it for P.T. Anderson's Punch-Drunk Love with Sandler instead. That will probably be the 1st Sandler film worth paying for. Well.. the Wedding Singer too.:)
WOW!!! The best part of this movie... and I hated in the trailers, was the fact that it WASN'T a flashy MTV-like movie. There were so many suttle moments like the scene with Franka and Matt in the hotel cleaning her hair. They look at each other for awhile, then kiss. There was true acting...
1) Lord of the Rings (2 and 5 disc)
2) Traffic CC
3) Heavenly Creatures SE
4) Tarentino Films (PF/JB/RD these count as one!:D )
5) Panic Room
2 other big ones:
Hearts and Minds CC
Royal Tenenbaums CC
DAMN I LOVE DVDS!!!
Wouldn't it be great if one day Anchor Bay would lisence Halloween to Criterion for a little while? Like they did for Dead Ringers or Mona Lisa.
The laserdisc from CC was excellent! I can only hope...:D
I also agree that Dracula is a good film. Along with The Fifth Element. I seriously don't agree with the Superbit idea at all. Even Superbit Deluxe. They should only release ONE version of the film! 1 big Special Edition. Make the transfer and sound the best you can and still make it a good...
This movie is too good to be in a SuperBit or Superbit Deluxe line. Just look at the films they've released under that banner(hallow Man, Vertical Limit, Big Hit!). Do we really want BHD in one of those metal cases? We know Columbia can make excellent dvds that just have a "Special Edition"...
I have a BIG QUESTION:
I just got the 5 star version from Costco (the last copy) and when I started watching the Special Edition version the picture was pixelating and jumping all over the place. Can somebody please help find a way I can contact Fox and get a new copy. Thanks for any info.
:D
I would have to agree with Sean on this one... even my friend, who loathes CGI thought it was one of the most amazing scenes he had ever seen in his life. I would have to differ by saying the Cave Troll was one of the greatest CGI created creatures I have ever seen.
Well, although I would have to agree that this is not Finchers finest hour (Fight Club, Game, Se7en). This movie alone is probably 99.9% better then most of everything else that has been put out by studios. So it may not have meatier story, and I can see where alot of you are coming from when...
WOW!! I just got back form the screening today. 3rd time seeing it. I took my friend who wasn't interested in it at all and he walked out saying it was probably the best movie he's seen in a long time. Anmd this kid knows his movies. Infact, when he walked out he screamed "Fuck the Oscars!" and...
Wow I have so many... but to name a few:
-Traffic CC
-Jerry Maguire SE
-The Horse's Mouth CC
-George Washington CC
-Bottle Rocket + Royal CC (Hopefully!! Rumors be true)
-The Game CC (again! Please be true)
-EraserHead
-Vanilla Sky
-Waking Life
-Romeo + Juliet SE(finally!)
-Strictly...
You know... I was waiting for a special edition but I never in a million years thought that Criterion was going to get the rights to Traffic. This was my favorite film of 2000. Probably the best new (for me anyways) of the year. Hopefully this arrangement with USA Films will give Criterion the...
LOL. I hate to break this to you David. But i'm a guy! I was born in England and my parents named me after Carol Reed! Their favorite movie is The Third Man. It's also one of my favorites too. Once I asked them why the hell they did it and they showed me the film and I said " Pretty sweet!" My...
