Try Ekornes stressless leather recliners and theater seats. http://www.duckloe.com/special/feb_0...essGrenada.htm Here's their catalog. http://www.ekornes.com/Catalogue05/KatalogUSA05.pdf The recliners are very comfortable and don't block the rear channels as much like the typical...
It's nice to see this thread again. Aura/Seismic 18" pro drivers rock the house. As drivers advance, us DIYers get used to the level of performance and then demand some more performance. It's the kind of viscious cycle I like to see. :D

You've got a good point there. At least the wire mesh is more resilant and will restore back easier. It can be painted any color or plated with chrome etc. I think 3/4" will keep the cats and small fingers from hurting large woofers. Pencils will penetrate almost any barrier however.
The...
If you can do an IB sub, especially arrays, there's no box that'll beat it. It's as tight as can be and will have as much Vd & spl as you could ever want.
Some day when I have a better house and no close neighbors...
I want to make grills that won't cover up my too cool IMHO speakers, be acusticly transparent, and protect from my six curious cats and future grandchildren. I thought I'd post this info and let you look it up and comment on the possibilities. I'm partial to the 3/4" crimped wire as it would...
I'm running my PC through my bedroom AR3a speakers and mi-fi stereo gear. Decent playback when playing games and mp3 files. Beats the heck outa the little toys that came with the PC.
Hmmm...
I saw some factory reconditioned CE2000s for $400. CE1000s for $300.
I heard that the fans are multiple speeds and won't run at full force unless you're really cranking 'em. The CE2000 should be less likely to kick on as it has more power reserves. The CE2000 will bridge into 4 Ohms...
Since LF won't harm ears nearly as much as midrange on up, I'd shoot for as much over 120dB as you can afford to build or tolorate. Explosions seem more realistic that way and music can actualy move you and your house.
I hear ya guys.
I only made on average $25k/yr (lots of overtime) and I had the only job supporting my family of 4. I did what any reasonable DIY audio fanatic would do, I bought the best drivers I could aquire one pair at a time. It's taken me over 4 years so far to get the stereo set up I...

Bridging even the mighty K2 into 1.5 ohms isn't really a good idea. Just because you've gotten away with it so far, doesn't mean you won't pay the price later on. Abused equipment won't last as long as well cared for equipment.
One channel into each coil will be the equivilent of...
Use a fabric tape to measure both inside and outside curves on the outside of the elbow. Add together and divide by two to get the midline length.
Also, use a long sweep 90* ell instead of the standard ones. Two 45* ells if you can't find a long sweep in your pipe size.

"It appears to me from the pictures that the Ekornes are a bit too high in back. Ideally you don't want any obstruction of the surround sound from the rear at ear level. This may not be much of an issue for side speakers but it may for for 6.1 or 7.1 set-ups."...

"The Seismic 8196E or 8196HK smokes that driver at an even lower price of approx $550.00 per driver. However, I am uncertain of availability of the 8196E or HK at this time."

It's the biggest honkin' speaker wire I've ever seen @ $0.69/ft. I'd better go back and get another 50' before they sell out.

I ran across some 8 gauge speaker wire at the local surplus store. I got 50' to run to my subs for $35. What the heck, it can't hurt.
