Advice on combi player compatable with my PJ

Hi all, I've been out of the loop and away for some time due to the whole "life" thing. I'm in need of a new DVD player and am going to upgrade to an HD format. I have no intention of getting on one bandwagon and losing out to the other so I'm looking for a combi player that will play both HD...

Where can I buy DVD cases?

I am looking for a place to buy single DVD cases. I have seen them all over eBay and a couple other places online but they all seem expensive, $40. plus per 100. Has anyone found a source that they would be willing to share? I am also looking for the blank Title inserts which I cannot find anywhere.

If you had $2000 for a projector which would you choose?

I will be spending $1995 on the Sanyo PLV-Z2 (16:9)next week. If I had $3500 I'd probably go with a BenQ DLP, not sure which model as I have not researched in this price range. Good luck with your choice.

Need long DVI cable (10M) any suggestions?

I do realize this is beyond the recommended length. I will be using it between a Sanyo Z2 and a Momitsu 880. I'll be making these purchases next week and am going to need a 10M DVI cable to connect the two. Is anyone using this length cable? I do plan to have the projector calibrated and am...

Need long (30') DVI cable, any suggestions?

Bob, I believe the limit is supposed to be 7.5M but I know there are longer cables out there and that are being used with no problems. I'll check over in Projectors also....Thanks.

Rob, My ceiling is also sheetrock (1 layer 5/8")no Resilient Channel, with fiberglass insulation (R13)between the joists. When the volume is cranked up I can only hear the bass slightly upstairs. I have carpet in my living room which is directly above so I'm not sure what your proposed...

Curt, I assumed I would need to do some tweaking and you just confirmed it. At the risk of being a pest I would like to ask you a couple other questions I thought of...What mount did you choose for the PJ? or did you DIY? And what format did you decide to go with for your screen, 1:85, 1:78...

Nice room Curt! Please do post some screenshots when your get your new camera. I will purchasing a Z2 soon and the Carada is on my short list of screens so I'm glad to hear your happy with it. What is your throw distance? Have you done any tweaking to the Z2?

Which screen format 1:85 or 1:78 are you using?

Thanks everyone for the replies. It looks like my choice should be 1:78 rather than 1:85. I mainly want to fill the screen whenever possible and/or avoid having to settle for a smaller picture just so that it fits the screen dimension I choose. This will also allow for a smaller masking system...

Which screen format 1:85 or 1:78 are you using?

Michael, I am looking at 1:85:1 for the exact reason that it is the standard HD format. The other reason is that there are more movies formated that way than any other. What would your ideal screen size be?

Which screen format 1:85 or 1:78 are you using?

I am in the process of choosing a screen format. I think I will be going with the 1:85 to 1 size at 104" (Carada)but before I do I am hoping to get your feedback on what you are using and if you are happy with your choice. I do not want to be looking for a new screen 6 months after...

Proper dimmer for low voltage recessed lights

Jack, I recently installed magnetic Low Voltage lights in my kitchen with a magnetic transformer. The dimmer I used was a Lutron "Ariadni". Worked great and cost about $17.00. Part # AY-603P-WH. I found it at my local electrical supply house. One issue to be wary of is the fact that when...

    Deadening front wall

JayPo, I put up 2 laters of 8 oz. poly batting attached with a staple gun. The fabric I used is speaker fabric from Joann's Fabric. About $7.00 a Yard. It is definately transparent however, it is NOT fireproof as the GOM fabric is. This may be an important consideration for you in...

    Deadening front wall

Gary, I did not hear this type of solution before I did it. I took the jump based on the many positive comments on this type of treatment both here and over at AVS. As I said before I am glad I did as this has made the biggest difference as far as upgrades are concerned in my room.

Z2 owners - what DVD player are you using?

Ok, let me phrase this differently and see what happens... I would like to buy a new progressive scan dvd player to go with my new projector. Single disc is fine and I am not interested in DVD-Audio or SACD. My price range is under $1000. Thanks for any recommendations?
