Problem with Marantz SR-7000 and 6-ch input

Chris, The SR7000 switches the front speakers setting to "large" automatically in "direct" mode. BTW, I've heard Denon's receivers also allow individual level adjustment in 6-channel input. Van

Problem with Marantz SR-7000 and 6-ch input

Yohan, I'm not sure what you meant by stereo by-pass. Here is how my SR7000 behaves in various modes: When front speakers are set to large: 1. Sub is inactive in 2-channel "auto" mode. 2. Sub is active in 2-channel "stereo" mode. 3. Sub is inactive in 2-channel "direct" mode...

Problem with Marantz SR-7000 and 6-ch input

Cary, If it does, it is certainly doing a fairly good job. The SR7000 sounds horrible in CD stereo mode assuming it is doing the A/D to D/A conversion. It would be nice for get to the bottom of this though. Van

Problem with Marantz SR-7000 and 6-ch input

Cary, Mine does the same thing. I doubt that the SR7000 is doing A/D and D/A though as I can't detect any sonic difference between the 6-channel direct and 2-channel direct mode when playing two channel music. I actually find that to be very beneficial as you probably know that the sub...

12volt trigger from receiver to amp

Dennis, You might want to check the receiver's setup menu. I use the Rotel 1075 with a Marantz receiver and it works just fine. I'm not sure what pre/pro you are using, but the Marantz must be setup in the DC trigger menu where you can select the input (e.g., DVD, CD) to trigger the amp.

A question for those who use receiver as a pre/pro

Dennis, Thanks for the response. I too use a Marantz (SR7000). Interestingly, I'm using both outputs in the opposite manner currently without any problem. The front L/R speakers are connecting to the receiver's L/R speaker ternimals as usual and the L/R pre-outs are connected to the powered...

A question for those who use receiver as a pre/pro

When you use an outboard amp in a receiver, the amp will be connected to the pre-outs of the receiver and speakers will be driven by the amp's power via its speaker terminals. Since the receiver has a built in amplifier, I believe the receiver is sending signals to its pre-outs (unamplified)...
