Vince, It's been a while since I built my cables (from Chris White's website)but I don't recall a stipping problem. I do however recall frustration with getting a good solid crimp on the center pins. Look forward to your webpage with updated instructions...especially confused on the "panel...
Jeff, If you just need a short run of Canare V3-5CFB and don't want to buy the minimum order length I've got some extra cable...send me a PM if your interested. If your doing alot of cuts the canare stripper is a must
I ran wires before my house was built. Months later when it was time to buy and place my new speakers I changed the location somewhat requiring a splice....I don't think I'm missing anything but then again it is just for my rear surrounds.
I'd say go for it if this is a rear speaker run!
For that kind of cash I would recommend:
Norh 4.0 5 speaker package
SVS sub(s)
still with some cash leftover to upgrade cables or start down the road of separates with separate amps for your L/R mains.
I have the Norh 9.0s with 4.0s for rears and a SVS Ultra sun so I will admit I'm...
I've had the DVD F727 since last March maybe, got it for around $530 from One-Call. Make sure whoever you buy from is an authorized dealer as this unit is prone to breakdowns (but I still love it)
So I see I am not alone. Guess I better find a good supply of blu-tack, find some time when the wife is not around to crank up the sub and start tacking.
I guess it's a good problem to have...never had a sub before so I can't compare it to anything else but the SVS is something else.
Gordon,
Thanks for the link, the Salamander will probably work for my center speaker....would like to find something smaller for my rack.
My rack will fit into a built in cabinet so it's difficult to get behind it but at this point I may just have to deal with it.
thanks
Received my Avia disc and took a quick look at the sub section for calibrating my new Ultra. I was playing one of the tones on Avia last night for the subs. I had the volume up a bit (still not distorted) and I had glass and pictures rattling all over the place. I didn't have time to find all...
Planning on building a flexy for a center speaker stand. The center will roll out in front of the TV. Also would like a flexy for my equipment with one or more wheels on it to make moving it easier when I'm switching cables etc in the back.
The only wheels I've seen are attached to a board on...
Tom,
Didn't get a "manual" with my Avia so I asssume you just mean run thru the tests described in the video.
By "casual" freq response checks....I take it there are other options to consider down the road?
Got lucky and spotted an Ultra/Samson 1000 amp and the ART in the B Stocks yesterday and I'll soon have my first sub!
I ordered the equalizer based on the deal and the recommendation from Tom/Ron....but not sure what it will do for me?
Jeff,
How does the weatherstripping work? Is it's function to hold the foam in place? Is the foam wide enough that you have a large enough surface to glue the weatherstipping on good? Could you not use some velcro on the face of the window and the back of the blue foam? Either way sounds...
Thanks for the update Wayne....I assume the same would hold true for splicing 14 gauge wire?
Will my local hardware store have the yellow butt connectors?
Gary...
I've got to do some splicing myself and had planned on just using twist caps. Sorry to be so basic here but I've got some questions on soldering (only tried once many years ago):
-----------------------------------------------------------
2)Strip the insulation on all four ends back...
Patrick,
Glad to hear my tweeter doesn't have a problem....just last night I had reassembled my drivers and with my ear very close to the tweeter and blocking the midwoofer with one hand I thought I had a problem with the tweeter because it was so faint. Didn't have time to check it out more...
The site was a great help to me...I made several audio and a couple of video runs using the Canare LV-77S. As Chris points out it is very flexible and can be used for both audio and video. Great to be able to make custom lengths and I have the tools for future needs.
I also built one...
How close can I run speaker wire next to electrical wire?
Built a new home and ran speaker wire for surrounds. Haven't used them yet but now am ready, however, I've now decided I need to move the initial location so I will be extending the line . Problem is I will be running close to an...
