Only one plot thread felt truly forced the amnesia bit
. Otherwise, the show stands up remarkably well. Rewatched my off-air tapes a month ago, caught the Labor Day marathon, and I STILL haven't fed the fix fully.
Yes, more extras would have been nice, but this is, without question, the...
Let me be the first to complain... :)
After hearing Graham Yost wax poetic on the Speed DVD, I would have loved to hear him on the episodes he had a hand in. Granted, the subject matter doesn't lend itself as fanciful a tone, but this guy could make the phone book interesting.
I think these writers are more clever than we give them credit for...
When Dennis Hopper kills that girl about 1/2 way through, my only thought was from Speed: "SHOOT THE HOSTAGE!"
For those who haven't heard the news, Yahoo! is reporting that next week's Scrubs episode will be "Super-Sized" by around 8 minutes.
If last year's Friends is any indication, the Super Sizing may be 4 extra minutes of show and 4 extra minutes of commericals. Nevertheless, more Scrubs and...
Add my name to the list of people who would buy this in a heartbeat. Though I'd love an SE, I'd settle for a reasonably priced bare bones edition. It'd beat the pants off my 2nd generation dub VHS.
IMHO, I'd rate the chances of an uncut Roger Rabbit just above a re-release of Song of the South. The family-film crowd would never let Disney get away w/ a release of a "kid's" movie w/ all the naughtiness contained in the uncut version.
However, this potential SE would be a great place to...
After watching last night's episode, something keeps sticking in my craw.
Pete hung his whole budget argument on setting the movie in 1976 and Miramax/Greenlight relented. However, the baseball uniforms the kids are wearing are definitely NOT correct vintage. Padres uniforms in 1976 were...
The "Twin Tower" worrying is just so much hokum. That episode was somewhere around season 8 or so, so it would be at least 4 years before it hits DVD. If we're still uber-sensitive about these things, then Lord help us!
From Friends... IMHO, the biggest sustained laughter was during a second (or third) season episode where Rachel borrowed a book from Phoebe about her "spirit wind", or something silly. She then confronts Ross and asks "How can I grow if you won't let me blow?"
As far as all time, I think the...
Here's a twist: Will you be buying FOtR when it comes out on DVD (my guess is Labor Day '02) or do you wait for the Trilogy box set that is sure to arrive after all 3 films have been released theatrically?
This is one of the new series I'm really looking forward to. Unfortunately, it's up against the juggernaut that is Survivor, so I'm not entirely optimistic about it's chances...
The other Tom Hanks-produced HBO miniseries, From the Earth to the Moon was released w/ 5.1 even though it was originally created in 2.0.
I have no doubt that the DVD's will be great! And if I were a betting man ... June 6, 2002 is a Tuesday.
My most-annoying Simpsons DVD cut is from the flash-forward episode where Lisa is in college. Troy McClure is teaching "Math: Sponsored by Crystal Pepsi". He asks a word problem:
Troy: "Suppose you have 5 Pepsis and your friend asks you to give them 3 Pepsis. How much Pepsi do you have...
Didn't see the special, so I can't comment on it, but I do know where the CGI in Braveheart is: When the Horses are speared with the trees at the beginning of the first battle.
It's kind of hard to do that shot for real without pissing off the Humane Society... :)
Kent Brockman: People are expressing their feelings and really starting to communicate with no holding back, and this reporter thinks it's about f***ing time!

Marge: Do you want Bart to grow up to be Chief Justice or a sleazy male stripper?
Homer: Can't he be both like the late Earl...
