The first gen consoles had the optical connector on the base of the av output cable. My 5.1 works great using the optical with my first gen console. Since then I updated my system to one with HDMI and I'm still using the optical because my amp doesnt have HDMI.
Ron your story just sickens me, I hope that it gets resolved and they make some changes over there. I too have been a long time DTV subsriber (8 years) and having just purchased a HD set I am hesitant to go with them for a HD signal. I was told I would have to be in contract for 2 years and...
I havent updated my galleries in a while because I stopped paying for pbase and my music has taken up a lot of my time. Anyhow I have quite a few photos out there from my 2MP Fuji and my Canon A95. Eddy B's Photo Galleries at pbase.com
For the 360 I would say the Star Wars Lego games would be fun enough. There is also Sonic 2 on Live Arcade but I dont know if you have setup your kids with their own profiles and how that would work out with Live games. The other thing to keep in mind there are a number of other game options...
HDs are very cheap now there is no reason to try to salvage a HD when you can find new units for $50. I know its still $50 but its also a brand new drive vs a unit that has been running for 3+ years. Caveman, I think he was talking about the XBox and not the 360 which still has a small drive...
Not too sure, I would try to keep the power brick separate from the unit because its going to generate its own heat. You could place a thermometer on behind the 360 (by the fans) and run it in the open for an hour and then in the shelf and see what the difference is in temps. You could also...
I bet we see the v2 360 some time in the fall. It appears that the IPTV option for the 360 is going to be the major driving force for the larger HD. DVR functionality on the 360 is going to be huge. Hopefully by then I'll own a HD set, LOL. I'm getting into COD3 online still havent finished...
I'm into the OSL on movies as well which is what this version seems to have but it also says its in 5.1 English too. Thanks for the link to that site its pretty cool. Ed
I just found out about this over the weekend, Best Buy here I come. Has anyone gotten it yet or have any opinions on this release? http://www.dragondynasty.com/
Congrats on the find and kudos for keeping it. I would keep the DVD player, the PS3 player doesnt upscale and you can get a $50 DVD player now that will (got a curtis dvd player that supports DiVX/XVID and upscales plus has HDMI). Also playing SD movies on your new PS3 is just causing...
Dave H, From all that I've read from MS there are no plans to have HD-DVD based games which is a blessing because SD DVD units load faster than the BD / HD-DVD drives. ed
What remains to be seen is how many of the PS3 owners will be putting out money for BD movies, I'm sure a good number of the people with the system dont have HD sets and others are going to save all their money for games vs movies. It appears that the external 360s HD-DVD player has been...
It appears that the demand for this $200 HD-DVD player is doing better than expected with the gamers. http://www.xboxic.com/news/1918 http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-HD-DV...dp/B000JHO4L0/
I'm 40 and more than likely will not be getting a Wii until I'm sold on it (playing it at a friends house). I've been a gamer since Space Invaders and Asteroids came out, have had Vic20, Commadore64, Sega Masters System, Genesis, N64, 3D0, PC games, PS2, and XBox. I'm currently borrowing an...
It seems that we might have an update on this whole topic of ethics. From the looks of this it seems that ebay will be putting a ban on PS3 sales. If this sticks Kudos to ebay. http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/14/eb...-will-deliver/
Anyone waiting for these to come out? I was leaning towards the Creative Zen M but I like some of the options the Zune has like the larger screen and the higher video output resolution. ed
Brett, I happened to agree with you on your assessment of these people, they're just as bad as ticket scalpers. What should be done is these people that are selling these units should have to file with the IRS (if they live in the States). I wonder if there is anyway for the buyers...
Hey guys not sure if the power supplies are covered under this but they (MS) recently announced that they would refund repairs for the initial 360 units. Perhaps they'll be generous and extend some type of coverage for a replacement power supply...
Wouldn't Microsoft be on top of the ICT with their add-on? The nature of the 360 is an on-line device, couldnt there be downloaded licenses for movies thus handling ICT via a software layer within the player? I'd like to think that someone over there in Redmond has thought this one out and is...
The problem is that most of the people buying the first batch of PS3s are buying them with the intent of selling them on ebay, then people will be paying easily $800+ per unit. Just like with the 360 sell outs. Whats really sick is someone will be getting a HD-DVD player for $200 (360 add-on)
Some of the sites that I've seen are listing the unit for $200. Regarding an internal HDDVD drive, the folk at MS have stated that they want to package this as an external so you have the option to buy what you want vs the PS3 which is forcing everyone to buy into BD. The price will be...
My take on all of this is that that Sony should of left the BD out of the machine and just offered another SKU down the road with it in the system. The PS3 would of been out now, the cost would of been lower, Sony wouldn't be taking a big of a loss on the units and mostly they wouldnt be...
The 610/620 are about a year old and their replacements the 630/640 have been announced so price drops are expected for the current units. Regarding the E18 error: Its a piece of complicated hardware with moving parts, the occasional failures are expected. Nothing is mechanical is going to...
This for certain will effect BD stand alone players. Sony will be hoarding all diodes for the console for at least a year. Not sure if HD-DVD uses the same diode.
With this recent setback I wonder if any of the BD hardware manufacturers are now considering to release a HD-DVD as well just so they can be on both sides of the fence. ed
Even though I own a large stash of Sony Products, 53"TV, 5.1DTS amp, PS2, etc.. I've lost faith in the company. First I think that as they got larger their quality control has dropped. I was going to say that this is common but then I thought about Canon and how they continue to make...
