For 2000$ Im looking for a new TV, but dont know where to start. Any recomendations? Flat or tube, Im still undecided but leaning towards flat for convenience. Thanks!
The newly anounced project, Godspeed, stars Harrison Ford and is produced by James Cameron as well as his other frequent producing partners. No word on the director yet. Sounds promising.
saw this last weekend and thought it was amazing. I loved every part of it. On a side note, the Thai boxers are suposedly the most bad ass of all the martial arts. There was allegedly a tournament in the 80s where all the styles from asia were represented and the Thais with thier kickboxers...
just curious what people think. Is the acclaimed flick The Deer Hunter overated and is the directors follow up Heaven's Gate underated with its universal panning by critics?
"If anything, satire in Sideways would be pointed towards the stereotypical West Coast Liberal." true, Payne can be an equal oppurtunity offender. I still find his overall tone and worldview decidedly more left then right. Miles may be a satirical slam against neurotic west coast...
I mean no offense, maybe politics has no place in this forum, but I do find Paynes movies very political. If we are discussing his movies, and why some might be offended by them, in any kind of detail, politics, etc...may enter into it. Cant get more politcal then his satire Citizen Ruth.
Actuallu politics and film have a strong correlation. A dem might feel offended by John Wayne's Green Berets, Rambo part 2, or Patton, and a Republican might be offended by About Schmidt. Of course these are generalizations, but Paynes movies do have a very strong Liberal bias to them in my...
I enjoyed Election, but loved About Schmidt and really liked Sideways. Payne makes movies about the darker moods in all of us. Hes in touch with the neurotic and cynical sides of the human condition. Perhaps red staters, in stereotype, dont enjoy his movies becuase in general they are less...
One of the main traits is not just that the kids are creepy, but troubled and ultra-aware or sensative. They whisper their lines in a monotone manner while starring downward or into space. These are direct rip-offs of The Sixth Sense, and big name actors are into it becuase they think it could...
Screen legend Robert DeNiro has reunited with iconic director Martin Scorsese to work on a sequel to their classic movie "Taxi Driver" reports Contact Music. The Oscar-winning actor, who starred as disturbed Vietnam veteran Travis Bickle in the 1976 film, has confirmed the movie veterans are...
whoa! so many great choices. Some of these I have already seen, but many I havent. Unfortunately Ill have to find a decent rental place that carries a wide selection of older films. Blockbuster aint gonna cut it.
the Falcon is way too high maintenence. That thing is always breaking down, and I woudnt know how to fix it. It would be in the shop every other weekend. A giant money pit :) I would take somthing more lush, probably one of the smaller star trek vessels assuming I had a crew to man her...
I was looking to catch some great films from the 70s that I may have overlooked. What are some must see overlooked classics besides the obvious JAWS or STARWARS that we all have seen. I know Ive seen the GODFATHER films, the CONVERSATION, and much of the classic horror films like EXORCIST and...
but they dont delay your enjoyment of the product in doing it. Movie theaters can have ads plastered all over the walls, run trailers and commercials in the lobby, have slides shown on the screen before show time etc...but dont delay the film simply to force them on a captive audience.
look, imagine this in any other arena of life. You go to eat dinner at Mcdonalds. You order your meal, and after you pay, but before they hand your meal to you, you are shown 20 minutes worth of commercials. Its absurd. Sorry sir, you must enjoy our "pre-meal 20" before your dig in. Enjoy!
"When was the last time that anyone went to a concert (popular music) that started on time? In my experience, except for classical music and opera, all concerts start after (well after--and often as much as an hour late) the advertised time." Live events are subject to random logistics that...
"Seriously, is there really anyone who doesn't know that the movie is going to start at least 10 minutes, usually more like 20, after the scheduled show time? Even those that haven't been to a movie in 20 years and don't know, it takes them one trip to figure it out. " Its more the principal...
no apology needed. But I appreciate your polite responce. I see your point, and completely understand where your coming from. Maybe its all karma. I have to sit through ads when I see a film at the theater, but now that i have Tivo I can zip through all the commercials when at home. Kind of...
"I'm not saying the free market will always guarantee the best product. I just don't think we need the government invloved in telling us when our movies start. " Do you want the governmet involved in truth in advertising? Why dont we let the makers of Advil claim it cures cancer? or that a...
"Sony paid the price for its poor business decisions. I much prefer that business fail for bad decisions and succeed for good ones, rather than having the outcome imposed by state dictate." I would prefer that as well, but it is simply not always the case. How about a system where buisiness...
The thing is, the theaters sell out wether they run the ads or not. So they make more money running the ads. I supose your' correct in that they havent crossed that threshold where people are pissed enough to stop going, but do your really want to push the miserable theater going exerience that...
It was the free market that allowed VHS to win out over Beta, a much superior product, when the VCR was first hitting in the early 70/80s. A better product does not always guarantee you buisiness success. Especially when large corporation can manipulate said market to further their own specific...
one bomb, but he also had 2004- cameo in oceans 12. 2003- tears of the sun 2002- Harts war. 2001- bandits 2000- unbreakable etc... in 2005 he has sin city and hostage and lucky number slevin. He's doin fine. If you want to talk comeback, Dennis Quaid is on a tear right now.
I dont think Bruce needs a comeback. Hes been very consistently and sucessfully working for years now. I enjoy his smaller more risky choices as well as his blockbusters.
Just becuase the theaters are now running the 20 min. does not mean that im not a "big boy" if I dont like it. actually, it is most adults who are upset by this, not the teenagers. The fact is laws often exist to keep corporations in check. None of our industries work outside of any...
Im a big fan of the series. I read on one of the movie gossip sites that, and I hope your sitting down, Ben Affleck will play a super terrorist out to kill Bourne. Damon wants to thow his old pal a bone and try and save his carear, thus Ben gets a starring role in the next movie. I hope they...
you can download some clips on the offical website. You need realplayer, but you can get an idea of what is being shown in the movie. No fee to pay. www.cannibalholicaust.net just dont eat lunch before viewing, and double check if you really want to view the stuff.
