So, I had my PS2 plugged into the front of my Yamaha receiver when lightning hit not too far from my house (I didn't see it coming, honest). Well, a bit of the electricity got through and zapped my receiver. Oddly enough, it works flawlessly except for one thing: All the different inputs are...
I don't personally know Rich, but this is an amazing amp. I bought one from another HTF member a few years ago, and it's still going strong. In particular, voices sound very clear (not to mention every other sound). At $1k, this amp is a steal...If you've ever wanted to upgrade to some...
Aww he wants to go offroad I'm not touchin it, though Guano. That sounds familiar It's in my hair! --Ace Venture, When Nature Calls What smells like shoe polish (28, it could fit!) I assure you we're open (well, it was on the sign out front --Clerks
I just bought one of these amps from another HTF member. I was using my Yamaha RX-V995, which is now serving as pre-amp. Holy heck, Batman! This is a great amp at a great price. I'm hearing things I've never heard, and my speakers love it (Paradigm Monitor 11 v.3 with CC370 center) I...
Ahem.... Battlefield Earth? (Ok, ok. Just kidding) Seriously.... October Sky (life story) Spider-Man (kinda) Gettysburg (The Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara) ~Eric
Well, no official announcement has been made that I know of, but I heard that Ian McKellen (Gandalf from Lord of the Rings) is on the top of the list to be Dumbledore in the third Harry Potter. A good pick, in my opinion. ~Eric
Anyone can feel free to correct me if I dork this one up as I'm going off of memory here. Q: "What is the only movie AND sequal to both win Best Picture?" A: "The Godfather I and II"
I think that my new favorite surround demo is the THX intro from Monsters, Inc. (MOOOO!) There are also some good surround scenes throughout the movie. Men in Black 2 also has several scenes with great surround usage (around 44-50 minutes, I think it is). I would also agree that Attack of...
Greetings, all. So, here's the deal. I'm currently running Paradigm Monitor 11 v.3 mains, CC370 center, PhaseTech Teatro 7.5 rears, and Definitive ProSub200, powered by a Yamaha RX-V995 (100wx5). I'm enjoying this setup immensely. I'm currently in an apartment, but plan on moving into a...
Well, I have the 56H80 and love every minute of it. Having looked at the specs of the the 81 models and 82 models, it seems they're just getting better. I'd say go for it. I have never for a second regretted the 56H80. Regards, ~Eric
Eric, Well, I can't comment on the website, but that's a pretty good deal for those speakers. I used to run the Teatro 7.5's as my main speakers for about the past year and a half, maybe? I also picked up the PhaseTech center and was using Definitive Bp-X bipolars for the rear. My sub was a...
I am playing my Playstation 2 on my Toshiba 56H80 Widescreen TV. For some reason, the left approximately 1 inch of the screen is black. It doesn't matter if I hook up through composite, component...whatever. Obviously, movies and TV work just fine, and it seems like the right side of the...
See? Henning proved my point, since Women have better hearing than men (it's just too bad that they don't care as much about home theater).
Actually, it's interesting what Paul said.
The midrange is what sold me on my Paradigm's (note: I bought the Monitor series, not the Studio series...
Adam, This is what I thought at first, but, if that were the case, why would the right side of the screen be correct? It would also show up like that on movie, wouldn't it? Maybe my Playstation is just crazy. ~Eric
Yohan,
There is a HT store near my house that sells a lot of B&W products, so they have quite a few speakers set up to audition.
Personally, I hate B&W's. I can't really tell you why, I just do. I think maybe they sound too harsh for my liking? (This, of course, falls under your "subjective"...

It's not that I expected a peaceful movie-going experience on opening day, but I DO expect a bit of courtesy and parenting. I guess I hope for too much....
Today, I had the worst movie going experience in my life. I saw the 2:25pm showing of Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets. Let me run through some of the problems: 1) After the third cell phone rang, shouldn't that have clued in everyone to turn their phones off? (ps- the answer is...
I think Josh Simpson (and many others in this thread) got it right. David Arquette is horrible. Can anyone explain to me how he ended up with Courtney Cox? ANYONE?!? ~e
If you're not going to record or pause tv with it, then don't bother getting the dishplayer.
Although, once you try out these features, I bet you'll be hooked!
Hitting a button to record a show every time it's on, then coming home and watching it (while skipping through commercials) in it's...
Pete,
One thing I want to address about your comment "I'll spend a lot of time viewing it at Sears."
I just got a 56" 16:9 tv with about an 8' viewing distance.
Viewing that thing in the showroom is NOTHING like viewing it at home. The large showroom floors, high ceilings, etc... It just...
He got ripped off???
Why do you say that?
I just got my Toshiba 56H80 yesterday, and I'm QUITE happy with it so far.
And, yes, I KNEW before I bought it that it did not have the HD receiver built in.
I dont see why he should return the set, though.
