Sound and Vision reviewed this receiver back in 2004. Here is the link to the review: http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/art...article_id=658 I personally own the receiver and I like it very much. The sound is FAR superior to my old Sony ES model that I bought in 1998. There are plenty of...
For 19.99 you may have to buy all four just to find one that works.:D Seriously, buy the two you like the best, compare them at home and keep the best one. Give away the one you don't like as a gift to someone who needs a cheap DVD player or just return it.
Is there any artist information displayed on the CX-455 display? Without a spreadsheet or list, how do you find an artist or an album? Andrew, I appreciate your suggestion but I don't find it cost effective to spend $200+ dollars on a remote to operate a
I would like to purchase either a Sony CDP-CX355 or CX455 magachanger for my familiy's CDs and I was wondering how easy it would be for my family members to find a CD. Can you search by artist name within a group or can you only search by album name? If someone could break down the steps to...
In an attempt to manage and simplify my family's CD collection, I want to purchase a CD Megachanger from Sony. Besides the extra 100 discs, are there any features on the CX-455 that are a "must have" over the CX-355? Is the extra $100 worth it? Any information would be helpful.
Try contacting your cable company to see if they have a cable box that supports stereo output. If not, you can run the RF coaxial output from your old cable box to a stereo VCR and use the line level outputs from the VCR to your receiver to achieve stereo sound.
Tim, I live in South Jersey and am wondering which channels of HDTV do you get on Comcast HD and how do you like the picture and sound quality of each channel? I plan to buy an HD ready TV this year and I wonder what I will get a chance to see.
Thanks for the replies. I really enjoy the "Listener Supported" DVD and will probably buy the new DVD too. I agree. I like the less gimmicky DVD presentations of live performances because I enjoy watching close-ups of the musicians while they are jammin'.
I did purchase the new CD and I...
I'm stuck at work for two more hours before I can go out and get my own copy. If anyone has picked up either the CD or DVD let me know how you like it (ie: sound quality, content, picture quality etc). :emoji_thumbsup: or
I understand that you should not have to make any bass or treble adjustmentto an SACD source, but sometimes one would like to address either a weakness in the recording or even a weakness in the speakers or electronics that you are using. Up until now, it is not unusual to make these adjustments...
I am ready to upgrade from my Sony DA30ES to take advantage of my multichannel SACD player. I am wondering if ANY adjustments can be made to the analog signal that is input into the receiver? Can the bass and treble be adjusted? Is there any bass management applied? Or is the signal passed thru...
I understand that most megachangers are programmable. I have a specific question: once you have created a program, say for a party, and you have say 10 CDs already programmed to play, can you easily add CDs to the program as people request them without disrupting the original program? Can you...
Here are the two sites I use to keep up with the latest releases:

Once you have found the SACDs you like, Elusive disc seems to have very good pricing and availability. They can be found at http://www.elusivedisc.com/
Good Luck
Does anyone that owns a receiver other than a SONY have the ability to adjust the tone control for a SACD/DVD-A player input through the 5.1 analog inputs? If you can, which speakers can you adjust?
Keith, Thanks for the response. I too have a Sony ES receiver, but an older model without 5.1 ch inputs (DA30ES). I am looking into replacing this receiver with one that has 5.1 ch inputs so I am trying to evaluate my options. I currently can adjust all tone controls for 2 ch SACD playback since...
The biggest NEW feature in the AVR 220 is Dolby Prologic II. To see if you are interested in this feature, search this site or visit Dolby's website for a complete explanation.
Do all receivers/pre-amps prohibit the use of tone control (bass & treble) for the multichannel analog input or is each receiver unique? I have read about the Sony receivers not allowing any tone control at all for 5.1 input but i was wondering if all receivers behave the same. If tone control...
Jamey,
I think what you mean is that you cannot adjust the tone controls (bass, treble) for the 500V, therefore the music sounds flat. Try setting your soundfield to AFM or "auto format decode". I believe this still allows for EQ or tone control adjustments on the 5.1 direct input mode of your...
Buy on of each from a reputable place that offers an unconditional return policy and audition each for yourself in your home. This will allow you to make up your own mind in your own listening room with your own equipment. Keep the one you like and return the one you don't. GOOD LUCK! ;)
I am in the market for a new Denon receiver and the only place I have found it is at the local Tweeter store for full list price. Can anyone recommend either a brick and mortar or an authorized internet supplier that provides some form of discount? I live just north of Philly in NJ and am...
The Denon 1802 is a very good choice, with lots of features and good power output. Its major drawback is its remote. Denon usually thinks of just about everything and provide both good video and audio features. You can adjust tone for all speakers, there is a true "B" speaker capability and the...
I agree that the 43ht20 has a significant amount of features for the money. My concern is connecting future HDTV cable boxes to it. I read that Cablevision is going to an HDTV box with digital HDTV connections. This would leave me in without the future compatibility.
I considered the 53HS30 for...
I am trying to decide between two 43" RPTV's from Sony. The KP43T90 or the KP43HT20. The price difference is $600 at my local dealer. Is the 43HT20 worth the extra $600? Are 43T90 owners happy with their choices? What are the significant differences between the two? I know one is HDTV ready and...
Mike,
I am also looking for a 27 inch flat screen TV. I was in my local Sears last night and they had the Sony, JVC and Panasonic flat screen TVs set up all in a row. This allowed for a pretty good comparison. I was fortunate enough to see the new 27 inch Sony, the model 27FS13. Here are my...
