I ended up buying the RAZR pre-paid phone from T-Mobile as a simple cell phone a year ago. It has done the job well and certainly is inexpensive. However, it has one Achilles heel: texting
Texting is key in the world of dating. The basic numeric keypad just...
Thank you, Colin!
I do see that the adapter is dual voltage. I don't really see the convenience for the end-user. It's not like they gave me an 220v adapter plug. Perhaps this only reduces the cost for the manufacturer?
I bought a new Seagate 2TB External Drive. The power adapter has an arrow on it for "US/CN" and then a button below it that says "Push". If you press the button then it simply depresses and when you release the button it goes back to it's normal position. I have never seen anything like it...

I have these old computer speakers with a small subwoofer. It has a big brick for an ac adapter. It gets hot even when the speakers are turned off. This seems like a perfect example of an energy vampire and a perfect candidate for the Kill-A-Watt:

This thread is so old.........I saw my username - didn't remember ever making that post - and thought someone had hacked my account and was posting under my username. That's until I saw the date.
Where is Andrew Markworthy when I need him?
Even though Charlton isn't in the Premier Leauge now, they are another London club. I had this discussion a little while back with someone from the UK - how every club is named after a town or section of a town. I said Arsenal. He said Arsenal was a...
1. Does the Prime Minster and/or the Queen have the power to pardon prisoners? Is this done often? 2. Do most Northern Ireland protestant's ancestry originate from Scotland? 3. Is St. Patricks day celebrated anywhere in the UK? 4. Since Birmingham is the 2nd biggest city in England -...
1. The 52" Samsung LCD TV I own is just over a month old and the 30-day return period at Fry's is over. I didn't buy any sort of additional warranty. Can I throw away the gigantic cardboard box now? 2. What do I clean the bezel and screen with? Thanks.
I noticed that target has a sale on T-Mobile pre-paid phones this week. Is this the phone you have? Is it a good buy? Target Weekly Ad: Best deals at Target stores now. - Weekly Ad Flash Experience - Page 15
I'm not sure of myself here, but one thing the US doesn't have is "true nation-wide" telecom compaines like British Telecom, France Telecom, Deutsche Telecom, and NTT who can implement services everywhere. We have this patchwork of companies that only provide certain services in certain...
It is simple. The Japanese/Koreans use the people's tax dollars to build their network. We let the free market do it. The problem with having the government do it is that they often pick the wrong technology/solution. The free market is better at choosing the best solution [assuming a level...
Who said anything about feeling entitled? If fountain drinks are that cheap, then offering free refills is an easy way to differentiate yourself from your competition. Certain customers won't really care, but some definitely will. I don't know why they haven't caught on to that yet.
I've been in Argentina and Chile the past few months. Not being able to get a Diet Coke large enough to wash a small child in and a mountain of ice has been quite disappointing. I was in a Tony Roma's yesterday in Santiago, Chile. They gave me a glass the size of a small, highball, cocktail...
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this. - The crane is to get the condenser(?) on the top of the roof. The roofs at our condominium have some high slopes and that is the only way to get it up there. - Do the condenser and the air handler/blower get purchased seperately? - What...
Christopher, Thanks for helping me out. Do you really think my HVAC unit built in 1983 is a SEER 10? It sound like HVAC technology hasn't changed a lot in 25 years. Also, what size unit should I get for a 926 sq.ft, one story condo?
I have owned my condominium here in Dallas since 1999 and the heating and cooling functionality has been “barely tolerable”. It just doesn’t punch out enough cold/warm air as I would like. I don’t know anything about this – I actually thought the blower above my bathtub was the HVAC unit...
I'm going out to LA next weekend for the USC-OSU game and I don't have a ticket. I'm driving out from Anaheim. What is the parking situation like for the Coliseum? The common wisdom is that the surrounding area is not that safe. Are there alternate methods of transportation? Shuttle buses...
Since USC has won the PAC-10 the past 6 years [thanks to Dennis Dixon's knee last year] why would a loss to a non-conference opponent cause the Rose Bowl to be a "long shot to dream about" - especially since all our traditionally tough games [Cal, Oregon, ASU] are at home. I think it is...
Micah, I also remember as a kid on L.I. seeing Solar panels on some roofs back in the 1980's, and then one day they disappeared. How much did this cost? I would like to see some pictures. A very interesting set of articles on one person's journey into solar from Extremetech.com can be...
Assuming the files are the same quality [Amazon is 256 or 320kbps for MP3 files]. 1. Same price 2. Apple has DRM [Digitally Restricted Media] 3. Amazon has no DRM. Am I missing something? I will never pay money for DRM files.
No. I have struggled with the question "What do you want to do for a living?" since I was in Junior High School. I have never found an answer that worked. The only thing I truly enjoy is not working. I have been working overseas as a contractor working all the time for the military for...
I saw this article in the Dallas Morning News and it is another item I see that confuses me about the long term outlook for the accounting/finance field. I either see articles that read: 1. Accounting/Finance jobs are being outsourced to India/Phillipines and it is a terrible field to enter...
I can somewhat understand why Canada has the dollar - but not Australia and New Zealand. Also, do Australia and New Zealand have Queen Elizabeth II's portrait on all their currency like Canada does?
I am working on a military base in Djibouti. They have notaries here. I wonder how much faster the closing process is now compared to when I bought a condo back in 1999.
