    Heroes - Season Three

My DVR cut off right after the marine stood up. Could someone fill me in....did anything happen after that or did it cut to the credits? Did they reveal what power he was given, etc? Thanks.

    Remote Question: Navitus? MX-3000? TSU-7000?

they are both totally customizeable, though the advantage of the pronto is the vast community that already exists complete with custom configs to sample. there is a much smaller source for the mx3000 at this time. honestly though, i would choose more on feel as they are very different both in...

    projector rental?

I'm thinking about trying to rent a proj. for the superbowl and I'm looking for suggestions. my tv room can only handle 5-6 people, so i'm looking to put a projector downstairs. I guess my first question is, whether or not this is feasible? Are there 'business-type' digital projectors that are...

    HT newbie with many questions

Most people will recommend buying individual components over an HTIB. Also, most people avoid buying all-in-one units. If your receiver and DVD player are in the same unit...what happens if one part of the unit breaks? You've got to replace the whole unit. I'd get a seperate receiver and dvd...

    Where to put the DVD's?

I agree with Leo....and I'd like to add that Home Depot and Lowes both sell pre-cut shelves (with nice routed edges) that you can stain, paint or finish to your liking. Slap a couple of brackets on the wall at the studs and you are good to go. You can use either the small metal "L" brackets or...

    Required Equipment

You will have alot of people telling you that Bose is overpriced crap and to drop the concept, so I won't bother to do it myself...oh I guess I just did. As for the sharing of video, you will need to purchase some type of video switcher. You receiver will likely not be set up to route video...

    Remote Macro help?

I suppose it could be that the remote doesn't transmit for as long when a code is in a macro. If that is the case you may be out of luck. The only advice I can offer is to recommend you try re-learning the Dish power code one more time and then re-program the macro again. Maybe you learned...

    Optical to Digital Coax

What cable box does he have that ONLY has Optical and not Coax? If you are in Chicago I assume you have Comcast Cable....which would imply that it is the Motorola 5100, 6200 or 6208 all of which have Digital Coax. It should be labelled SPDIF though and I believe it is colored orange.

    Looking for a Universal Remote

As you can see, people have their own preferences as to what type of remote they like best. You'll have to choose for yourself. I don't make statements as to which is better because I understand it is a personal preference. Good luck.

    Looking for a Universal Remote

Alot of people go for the Home Theater Master line as recommended above. You can program any button on the remote for any command you wish. However, because most of the buttons are "hard" buttons, you are stuck with whatever label is printed on them. If you want total customization, you...

    Component hookup questions

Yes, you will need to use either Digital Optical or Digital Coax in order to get 5.1 or better (technically your DVD player might have a Dolby decoder and analog outputs, but it is more likely that the receiver's is better). As for running your video through the Denon and then from the Denon...

    Suggestions for a surge protector < $50

I recently picked up an Isobar12Ultra from Tripplite. They seem to make solid products at a reasonable price. I got mine from Buy.com for around $60 with a coupon, but they have some smaller models for less.

What is the best seating for a HT system? What brand? Money is not an issue..

I think that the most popular "Home Theater" seating line is by Berkline. There are others that are similar and cheaper, and there are others that are much more expensive. Check the accessories forum over at AVS for discussions on Berklines and others...

    Room layout

A corner setup is not ideal, though it is necessary for some people and they have to make the best of it. If you have to go with the corner, I'd probably try to do it this way. If you can, I'd set it up more like this though.

    Pictures worth a thousand words

Another option which may be an improvement for your system, would be to hook up a digital audio cable (coax or toslink/optical) from your cable box to your receiver. This will give you digital audio on stations that broadcast it (many of the digital channels 100+ do, especially premiums channels...

    X10. What do I need?

www.x10.com Basically, you'll want to pick up an X10 switch for any lights you want to turn on/off only. You'll need an X10 dimmer switch for any lights you will want to Dim. If you are using any electrical equipment on a switched outlet that you want to control you will need an appliance...

    Pictures worth a thousand words

I'm guessing you have a Motorola DCT-5100 or 6200 cable box? Both have pretty much the same outputs so it shouldn't matter. Do you want to use your receiver for ALL audio or do you want to get audio out of your TV some of the time?

Anyone used a SIMPad for remote??? Considering one!?!?

I would love to do this as well after reading about it on remotecentral. I figure this is where you read about them as well? If not, check out the PDA forum and the iPronto forum for discussions on using RemoteControl 2. It sounds to me like it does everything the ipronto does except for the...

    Comcast DVR being installed thursday

Comcast doesn't offer the dual tuner model yet in my area...and that alone is keeping me from getting it. I can't see any use for having a single tuner DVR. In fact, I don't even understand why Motorola even developed this product in the first place. To me, it is totally worthless. That...

    Calibrating sound and video

There are a few calibration DVD's available. There is no other way for you to do it. You can't just get settings from other users as they will vary input to input and TV set to TV set. Even people with the exact same TV model will have different settings. Video Essentials The NEW Digital...

    MX-500 "learn" Question

Not sure, but I would think that the shift-hold technique simply instructs the remote to send a different code for the other button without having to have additional buttons on the remote. Just a space saver on the remote. You will probably need to designate an extra button on the MX-500 for...

    hd receiver

No, your Std def channels will not look better, they are still the same resolution as before. Remotes

Well, when I refer to repeaters I am talking about things like the "pyramid" they sell at radio shack. It is basically an IR receiver that takes the IR signal and then beams that signal via RF to a second unit across the room which converts it back to IR and beams it to your devices. As you can...
