I finally got all three of the new Cameron 4K blu rays recently. So with all the “comments” and controversy of these new releases, I was ready to sit down and see them with my own eyes. (James Earl Jones voice in my head)
I chose to start with Aliens the Director’s Cut, but was close to doing...
Thanks for the input! My next episode was going to be Face of the Enemy. I had seen The Neutral Zone a few months ago. That’s why I left it out, but it’s one of the best first season episodes I thought. Even if what I read is true that it went into production with a half finished script. I did...
I indulged in re-visiting some favorite TNG episodes that explored the Romulans. I also mixed in several other favorites.
1. The Enemy
2. The Defector
3. Data’s Day
4. The Wounded
5. Galaxy’s Child
6. The Minds Eye ( A mysterious Romulan is pulling the strings)
7. Redemption Part 2
8...
i hope that was due to an authoring error and that the actual restoration doesn’t look like that. I’m hoping for a new 4K disc that’s taken care of all the errors on that disc. One can hope.
And I’m looking forward to seeing what the North by Northwest disc will look like. Why are you so good...
Yes
Yes, John Trimble‘s passing has been noted on other Star Trek sites. Bjo got all the notoriety it seemed. But they were a pair who worked for Roddenberry on the Save Star Trek campaigns. It’s great the Trimbles have been around this long to see how their hard work has helped the franchise...
Scott, not to ignore your thread of the films having good continuity with the series, as you’re right, Bennett was good to maintain that.
I’m surprisingly fascinated with the topic of when Star Trek was originally syndicated. Another of those ads I posted above shows that stations who buy Star...
Sorry, I could not help but comment on this, The Twilight Zone was bleak. I can understand that. The series did tell stories with twist endings that sometimes didn’t end well for the characters. But I have to say, there are quite a few episodes where a character learns something about himself...
This question of when Star Trek TOS first was syndicated really had me curious. I remember seeing it on KTVU channel 2 in the San Francisco Bay Area in my youth. It’s etched on my tongue. I even remember in 1976 as a very young kid, I saw a KTVU camera man filming an event in 1976 and asking him...
Kevin, I recall Star Trek fandom being huge in the 1975 to 76 time period. Of course the series was in full syndication then. What I don’t recall was what was happening in 1971. I’ll have to try to figure that one out.
edit: I recall now schoolmates playing Star Trek in the schoolyard and I’m...
Tim, Erich, I pulled out the Rockford Files second season DVD set and watched the pilot film. It actually looks quiet good for DVD. if I have time, I’ll compare it to the Blu ray version.
As Erich said, the pilot on the DVD set appears to have the commercial breaks edited out. The film starts...
I did not realize this release was coming out and for some reason, I thought I already have it in my collection. So when I saw the review, I was confused because it says the released date is August 5, 2020. At any rate, thanks for the review effort Josh. I placed the other and should have it today.
Tim, are you asking about the complete pilot for Magnum or Rockford? For Magnum, I sought out the Blu ray set from Fabulous Films which is an import. If you are asking for the pilot for Rockford, I sought out the Universal DVD second season release of The Rockford Files, based on feedback from...
I have The Rockford Files on blu ray too. I’ve seen a handful of episodes and it looks great. My main issue with it is the pilot episode uses the syndicated version. I picked up the DVD season that includes the complete pilot. While it doesn’t look as good on DVD, at least it’s complete. And...
Thanks guys! The Golden Gate Bridge on the box is nice, Frankie! It’s got a bit of a metallic finish in the printing.
Ben, I’m glad it appears to be the way it should be too!
Tim, I also have the Columbo blu ray set, I’ve been enjoying that. I figure McMillan and the other shows will not...
Guys, I finally have all three titles now, as The Abyss finally arrived. There were ordered on March 3rd too. The other two arrived March 27th and 28th.
My copy of the 24 disc complete series set arrived today. The outer box has a few dings, but the each season set inside the box are still shrink wrapped. So now I can start to mix it up with Columbo. Perhaps McCloud is next. And then Quincy.
I have no idea. I never seen these previews before or knew there was a voice-over. All I can think of is the producers decided it wasn’t needed , or the previews that survive, not all have the voiceover track. I’ve only seen 4 or 5 episodes so far. Maybe I’ll see another one with the voice-over.
From what I’ve read, Garr wasn’t happy with Roddenberry trying to make her costume’s skirt shorter and shorter. Perhaps others know more.
I think Garr’s role was an important one as she would be in the place of the audience members who get to see what’s going from her point of view.
This and other photos are popping up on the Replica Prop Forum. The dream team was there to authenticate the 3 foot Enterprise model. This is terrific!
Daren Dochterman, Gary Kerr, Mike and Denice Okuda, Doug Drexler, Heritage person (?), Rod Roddenberry, Heritage person (?), John Goodson and...
Howie, you beat me to it! I had a super busy day at work and hadn’t had time to check out the story. The news as to whether it would be returned to Roddenberry and authenticated had not been made public yet, until today as far as I knew.
I knew this model was the real deal. All the “tells” were...
Because of all the commotion about Assignment Earth. I watched it this evening. Very Groovy.
It’s not one of my favorites either, but as a youth, I always enjoyed seeing it. Maybe partly because it incorporated Apollo spacecraft too.
I still have no issues with the episode. I like seeing 1968...
An aspect of this episode that I found interesting was for how long it took to correctly identify the actress who plays the human version of Isis the cat.

I was also surprised to find a website...
I saw a story in the news that a site used for filming the episode J Digger Doyle will be demolished. The Haiku Stairs, or Stairway to Heaven has been closed to the public since 1987, but since social media, many people have illegally trespassed onto it and caused in convenience for the locals...
Thanks for finding and the sharing the YouTube video of the NBC Mystery Movie theme. I remember the tune! But I had not recalled how it worked. So it’s the overall titles for the movies, but when the actual McMillan and Wife or Columbo movie starts, it has its own titles like we see on the...
