Does this mean that I cannot use progressive scan on my DVDP? Can anyone explain why? If it is a NTSC DVD, why should my DVDP not be able to do de-interlacing?
Thanks to all of you for your help.
I remember reading somewhere, that Lucas takes as reference a theater in LA or Hollywood, which is the reference milestone for THX, and everything is measured up to the sound in this theater.
Can someone help me on this too?
My daughter is traveling for her first time in the USA.
She’s now in the LA and will drive from coast to coast.
Which are best and reference movie theaters which she should look for?
What is the best theater to watch SW 2?
Which theater is the reference movie theater for Lucas?
Is it...
1. The Empire Strikes Back - Theatrical Cut
2. Return of the Jedi - Theatrical Cut
3. E.T.
4. Raiders of the Lost Ark
5. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
6. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
7. Back To the Future
8. Back To the Future II
9. Back To the Future III...
Avia - for first calibration and learning the new media.
Gladiator - Stunning movie, superb picture, sound, extras
Moulin Rouge - A feast for the eyes and the ears!
Thanks Frank for the reply, it looks like Cary is a real rarity here.
All my audiophile advisors, tell me not to mix up the CD with the DVD and to buy a CDP stand alone, if i want great sound. Or to add the Bel-Canto DAC.
In search for a new high-end CDP which is a DVDP too, I read about the Cary Audio D-3 DVD player.
Did anyone audit this unit, and how is the sound compared to the Cary Audio 303 CD player?

Thanks Tino for your fast answer, now I can relax again … :) :)
And I thought, that I can count on the info from the online shops – say at least a serious one like Amazon .. ???
I must say I am confused about the specs.
Even after reading all the postings and surfing the net.
Will it be 1:1.85 although it was 2.35:1 in the theaters?
Will it be Dts? although all DVD online shops Dolby only?
Is there a precedent where a 2.35:1 film was released as a 1:1.85 DVD...
We (may I say we?) need a better transfer, anamorphic in original aspect ratio.
DTS would be great too.
Sorry, but I will not buy the old DVD, even though I stopped using my LD.
