Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! Sounds like I definitely can't go wrong with the SACD of Alison Krauss. I'll be trying that and several other suggestions from this thread ... thanks all!
I finally can support all these formats with the combination of my Rotel RSP-1098 and Denon 2900. I would like to give each of these formats a try, and was wondering what people currently consider "reference" recordings for each format? Genre is not important. I do have one HDCD which is Jewel...
Good point ... so if I just picked up any old 2 prong extension cord at a local store, is there anything I want to look out for or do you think there won't be any difference in sub performance regardless of what extension cord is used?
I have a Cerwin-Vega 200 watt subwoofer that I would like to plug into my Panamax 5510 protector. Panamax indicates that I must use their extension cord in order to not invalidate my protected equipment warranty. My two questions are: 1. Should I be concerned about any difference in bass...
ok, I just realized that I didn't do the link in my orginal post right (it had HTTP in it twice). I have edited the post to correct his. Both the home page link and the direct link should be good to go now ... sorry about that.
Hmmm ... good question? Has anyone else tried this and had problems? It seems to be working now. The direct link to the download is

I agree -- the new original game shows do seem really cheap in terms of prize money; it hardly seems worth it. I do like watching Kennedy on Friend or Foe though -- she's a weirdo but at the same time there is something interesting about her ... So no one tried my Lingo demo? I thought...
I saw this game for the first time not long ago and thought it was really cool (though I could live without the "balls" part. Anyway I thought it would be fun to play and, being a computer programmer I went upstairs and promptly coded it :)
Check out the screen shots and a demo copy here:

The Denon 3200 has an input. I have my Pioneer CLD-406 going directly into the Denon for Dolby Digital -- sounds good. Not sure how much the old 3200 is going for on the used market though ... probably close to a demodulator price at this point ...
I am also experiencing the "green ghosting" on a Sony player, the S7000. It happens 3 times during the special edition version, and lasts about 1/2 a second to 2 seconds each time. I also have a Pioneer Elite DV-05, but I haven't had a chance to try the disc there yet ...
I guess I'll cast my vote too :      Stupid idea!
I happen to have high-speed access, but I'm still not at all interested in "web" features on DVDs. Basically we'll have to watch a small, poor quality presentation while probably being...
I have the D406 and have been very satisified. It is a relatively light unit though, and there are certainly a lot of players that can give you a better picture -- but at $89 its a great deal! I am running its optical out into a Millenium 2.4.6 DTS decoder, and then into a Denon 3200's 6 channel...
Actually the very first poster frame I got at Suncoast years ago had a wooden frame and was actually pretty well built for the same $20 price. Now they all have the plastic ones only for the same price -- but thats ok, they are good enough for my needs ;)
Thanks everyone, this has been an informative thread -- I'm glad Yee-Ming added his question, it helped draw out some of the information I was seeking. I'm not in a hurry to buy anything just yet, I still need three more channels of amplification first, so I may check out what Sherwood offers...
I have six 27x40 frames from Suncoast -- I usually don't buy anything there, but these were $19.99 each and were adequate for my needs. You usually find them all the way in the back of the store with the posters ...
Thanks, so it sounds like I am on the right track. I'm still not sure why one might sound better than another. The Outlaw 950 and Rotel 1066 have been talked about a lot here lately, and are relatively afforable -- yet I also see pre/pros out there for $10,000+ Whats the $8000 difference...
