Just got a SACD Player - What titles do I get

Thanks guy's.. My taste im music is pretty wide. I love Pink Floyd, Beatles, Elton John, Steely Dan, Eagles and most good old rock. Also like David Gray, REM etc. from todays music. Like soul, good Reggae, jazz if it's not too off key. Interested in both multi track and excellent sounding 2 chl.

Just got a SACD Player - What titles do I get

I just picked up a SACD player and already had the Dark Side of the Moon CD and it sounds great. Picked up Dylan's Blonde on Blonde and was very dissapointed. So what titles do you suggest for great sound ????

What setting do you listen to your DVD's on?

OK... I tried not to reply again to this thread but feel I must. There are very few receivers that have true 5 chl DSP. I know that lexicon and some of the higher end HK units do, can not speak for the Sony that Jeff listed, but I doubt it. I own or have bought for my kids a Yamaha, Denon...

What setting do you listen to your DVD's on?

Jeff, You could be correct on certain receivers but it is not the norm. As Nick has stated most of the receivers will convert to 2 channel and apply psuedo surround output. What we are trying to do is let people that are not as well educated as yourself about this situation. All you are...

What setting do you listen to your DVD's on?

Jeff, The lexicon is unique (some Harmon Kardons also)in this processing. The greatest majority of receivers do mix down to 2 channels when you apply a DSP mode.

What setting do you listen to your DVD's on?

I can't believe this thread exists, let alone some of the replies... Any movie that has a Dolby Digital or DTS soundtrack should be played back using them. If you switch to any other setting then you are using a 2 track downmix version to feed into your receivers DSP engine. Why would you want...

    HDTV cable box and 5.1

There is a known problem with Denon receivers and the Motorola box. No one has ever figured out (to the best of my knowledge) what the problem is but the Denon units will not play the digital signal from the Motorola output. I have a 3200 that plays every other digital signal I throw at it, but...

    Cable HDTV

On the Motorola box that came from the cable co you can change the resolution for non HD programs. There is a setting that allows you to change the output from 1080i to 480i/480P when a non HD channel is selected. This will not help when an HD channel is broadcasting a 4:3 picture but it works...

Invest in a HD receiver or wait for Comcast?

I just switched from DirecTV to Comcast in the Seattle area. my reasons for doing this were many but the main issue was that I was tired of spending money on equipment and the DirecTV charging me an additional $5 a month just to have it. I bought a HD unit a couple of years ago and have not used...

Comcast HDTV tuners (Hopefully not wrong forum)

Does anyone know if the HD boxes have a variable output.. I need to have 480P and 1080i depending on the channel I am watching. My pannasonic TV switches to 16x9 with a 1080i input but most of the programs we watch are 4x3. So I want to be able to easily switch from 480P to 1080i depending on...

Hooking Computer up to HT for MP3s

The best way is to run a single cable from the digital out on your computer sound card to the digital in on your receiver. If you don't have a digital out on your sound card then run two rca cables from your sound card analog out to any of the analog inputs on your receiver. The digital...
