if you dont have real high end speakers, you will not even notice a difference, ppl who noticed the difference between digital and analogue are very critical listners and they have very high end speakers. I could not tell the difference though, I have infinity interlude series speakers.

I had Pioneer 811s, which is alomost same as elite 41, and I replaced it with xr50, I agree with you about remote, it sucks, but sound quality is day and night.

I will suggest Panasonic XR50 digital amp, its really good, for your price range I dont think so you can do better than that receiver. Read reviews and other threads about XR50.

I will say Infinity Interlude series, I have IL10 and they are one of the cleanest speakers in the price range IMO.

John if your sub is at the corner or near walls, try to move from there put somwhere away from the corner and walls and see if that helps but it will reduce the output volume though and you also can try poly-fill as Alan advsd, if nothing helps then for your price range I will try Daytona Mighty...

I have xr50, and sometime I dont beleive that this cheap looking recever can sound that good. :) I had Pioneer 811s before, and my friend brought his 5 ch adcom amp to compare, and let me tell you xr50 sounds atleast as good as 811s and adcom combo and its way more detailed. (with my speakers...

I will also include digital receivers from panasonic, sony and HK, I have Panasonic and it sounds great. good luck in your search.

I have little suggestion for, before buy any receiver go to BB or CC and try a panasonic xr50, they have 30 days return policy, check that receiver you might like it and its not very expensive, I replaced my Pioneer 811s with it, and let me tell you this there is a huge difference in both music...
