    Disabling/Minimizing Red Push... How?

JohnnyG, Have you found any way to adjust the color decoder on the Tosh HX series? ADDR service menu??? I've noticed that my 57HX81's color decoder has green 'pull', or 'underpush'. Red and blue are within 5% on the color decoder check on AVIA, but green is about -10%. Have you also noticed...

    Changes to 2002 Toshiba RPTVs?

Points well taken. I agree. Sean

DVI / IEEE For Dummies...Please discuss

I still don't understand why the ANALOG outputs have to be downrezzed!!! Does anyone know of a recording device that has analog inputs? Is that what the content providers are worried about? As far as I can tell a digital copy is more of a threat than an analog copy. So I admit I understand...

    Changes to 2002 Toshiba RPTVs?

What is the advantage of DVI as far as display quality unless the display device is truly digital? CRT's, LCD's, and plasmas all require a processed, analog signal for display. So, even if they accept a digital input (1394 or DVI), they will convert it to analog internally for display...

Toshiba Widescreen HD's not really HD's?

No Toshiba HD sets can display 720p signals. You can feed them 480i, 480p, 540p (only source I know of currenly would be a PC/HTPC), and 1080i. That's it. Upconversion to 540p on the new sets is only for 480i and 480p signals. This conversion doesn't introduced any artifacts that I can...

Toshiba 40h80 - faint horizontal "lines" visible in bright areas?

If the lines appear to shimmer, then you might be pushing the digital convergence board to the limit of its range. I would venture to guess that you've reduced overscan quite a bit. If you reduced overscan with HIT and WID, then reconverged to the templates, this would cause it. You can tell...

Recent upgrade to Dish6000 - what was it?

Is this the same update that came out a couple of months ago? Or is there a 'newer' update? My receiver is set to update w/o my permission, so I haven't noticed. Sean ------------------

    Toshiba convergence

Jeff, Ditto what Steve said. I can think of no other way to correct that. I had a similar problem about 5" above the screen center. Looked like the credits were 'rolling over a bump'. I was able to greatly reduce it by moving convergence points only. Sean

    Toshiba convergence

Steve, I set all modes except 1080i to the overlays, so my overscan should be around 4-5% for all modes other than 1080i. As for 1080i I have not measured overscan. I would say it's in the 2-3% range as the edge of the raster is just beyond the screen borders. The convergence problems are...

    Toshiba convergence

Thanks, Steve! I would like your opinion on my situation -- if you would be so kind. I realigned the centering on my CRT's again last night. I know they have to be centered since I used the CMUT param to make sure the green was centered. Using the overlays I adjusted the VLD, STRP, etc...

    Toshiba convergence

Although it wasn't directed to me, thanks for the post Stephen! That's great info. I'm now gonna try to tackle my upper corner geometry errors. Is there a param like CMUT which will diable the vertical convergence coils? Or is this a stupid question? The reason I ask is that I feel that...

    Toshiba convergence

Scot, I've been looking for a way to do this for about a year now. There should be a way w/o having to reset the QA01 or QA02 eeproms. It would be very helpful for centering the CRT's mechanically so that minimal stress would be put on the DC board. I suspect that convergence would also tend...
