I just received my copy in the mail, and am I the only one surprised they didn't include a director's commentary that was on the Olive release? This is as bare bones as you can get. It is a pressed disc, not a BD-R.
I've owned the DVD of Born to Kill from the Film Noir Classic Collection Volume Two since 2005, but I never listened to Eddie's commentary on it. I need to rectify that soon.
I was thinking more of Clay's role in Mackintosh & T.J.
I agree Ron is the better actor, no doubt about that. Oh well, nice to discuss what-ifs, but the film is a fine one, just the way it is!
I received my copy yesterday as well, and like many others, I had to re-order this from Arrow since they cancelled my original pre-order.
This movie is a favorite of mine, and I am so happy to replace the old Paramount DVD from 2001. This blu-ray was a long time coming and it looks great to me...
Thanks for posting that review. I wanted to purchase this disc, as I have never seen this film, but I had concerns about this distributor and it looks like my concerns were valid. I'll pass on this one.
Yes, Kino announced this back in December. No release date given for this one.
2019 HD Master by Paramount Pictures – 4K Scan of 35mm Technicolor Successive Exposure Negative
Looks like a great upgrade from the Sony DVD collection released back in 2020. That older set didn’t include The Mark of the Whistler, which is standard definition in this new set. I wonder how good it will look.
I’m interested due to it having Ginger Rogers, but I don’t know anything about the film or the distributor Shoreline Entertainment. They claim to have a few classic films; https://shorelineentertainment.com/portfolio//classic-film/
