Purchased Dynasty Season 4 on a whim from apple tv. Stated HD in site.
Watching The Voice Part 1 ….
Specs doesn’t note anything about being in HD and doesn’t look that great… black crush for sure (which is normal for anything I stream)
Looks like Standard Def to me.
Those do look great, just sometimes with streaming you get a lot of macroblocking and other digital issues, so that’s why I’m a bit more cautious.
For instance streaming HBO’s recent season of True Detective was a bit mixed. Many dark sequences were blocky messes. Lacked much of a black or grey...
Loos like the series is on Apple. Tech specs indicate it as HD but curious if their files would best the US Dvds. Usually streaming doesn’t always looks the greatest for me, but interested if they are a lot better looking.
Wish we could get a Blu-Ray full series set.
This kind of free pass reviewism only hurts the format.
If you don’t have the guts to call it a fail and give the image a 0 or 1 then you’re just encouraging more mediocre DNR disaster transfers.
It’s sad to see supposed home theater aficionados say it looks good.
This crap might be fine for...
FRENZY is great. Far from his worst. Love Jon Finch, sadly they always give Barry Foster cover art duties
One thing that occurred to me as the movie progressed was how little film grain I was seeing esp the night scenes.
I’m not saying there was poor DNR - but I expected some more grain...

The cinematography there and the way they used the developing process, I’d love to see it on 4K. With SONY and their completely random back catalog 4K...
Whats crazy is the LionsGate / Studio Canal Blu editions were fried. Blown out whites. It was insane how bad those discs looked. It made the Criterion BLU even better looking.
So I’m very curious what the upcoming 4K UHDs will be like. I’m a bit worried. But fingers crossed.
the 2.0 turns out to be a 2.0 Stereo Track and NOT 2.0 Mono - not sure if it’s just a downmix of the 5.1 or maybe the same 2.0 Dolby stereo from the final laserdisc release.
Really wished we got the original Mono audio.
Image quality looks good, but cause I have teal PTSD from so many releases...
Whats even more odd is that there was already a blu-ray release in Japan that contained a Dolby Atmos track.
Another blu-ray release for Chicago was pointless. Love to have 4Ks for it along with another Miramax film that I believe is under Paramount - The Hours - which hasn’t been given a...
