I'd also take a strong look at the Hitachi SWX line as there are two very positive recent reviews of this set in SGHT (NOV) and TPV (Nov/Dec). TPV reviewer compared the set side-by-side with his Pioneer Elite and the SWX held it own and actually outperformed the Elite in black level retention...
I'm using a 320 with a Rotel 1075 power amp, and I too have no issues. I was thinking of upgrading, but don't know if I can give up the Logic 7 processing! Phil
The Sapphires are an excellent speaker! Click on my profile and you can read of my experience with them and the B&W 805 and Paradigm Studio 40's, or simply do a search on this forum. I wish I still had them. It was a good lessen in, "costs more" doesn't necessarily always mean "sounds...
I also noticed the A-Bus connection, RS 232 port, and that the video (component) bandwidth was increased from 35 MHz to 50MHz. It also weighs 8 lbs more than the 320. Phil
I've never had my 320 shut down either, but I'm only using it as a pre/pro. I'll second the poor remote comment. I too would buy mine all over again, and I've had Yammy, Denon, & Marantz. I've considered switching to the Outlaw 950 or Rotel 1066 but I can't give up the Logic 7, and the...
Earle: I agree about the flexibility. That is what drew me to the HK as a pre/amp. I have my speaker size and sub settings configured different for DVD movies, DPL TV shows, 2 channel stereo.. etc... The Logic 7 processing is the real "deal maker" if you ask me. Phil
Earle:
Not trying to sound smart or anything, but did you check in the advanced menu to see what the OSD timeout was? On my 320, the shortest setting is 20 seconds, but maybe the 520 has a shorter setting?
How would you compare the sound of the 520 to be vs. the 1055?
Phil
Andrew: I too would be interested in what Rotel tells you. I e-mailed them with several specific questions about the 1066, and they asked for my telephone number. 5 minutes after I responded, they called me! One of the specific questions that I asked was regarding the 1055/1066 being the...
This may be old news (I didn't search this whole thread) but I had occasion to speak with Rotel the other day and I was informed that their first "official" software upgrade for the 1055/1066 is about ready and it will include new installation software so that you won't have to use...
Well it's been 9 months and the Marantz rep never got back in touch with me. The dealer that I purchased it off of also went out of business about 2 weeks after I returned it... I'm glad that I returned it when I did!
I've never heard anyone state that the unit was ever corrected.
I'm hoping...
