This is old faithful. I haven't used it in about 1.5 years, and now that I have a receiver capable of driving all speakers, I think I'm ready to pass on this amp. It's THX certified, looks like new, and works perfectly. $250 + shipping and packaging costs - or available for delivery/pickup...
As a side note, for a while, I was running optical out from my Audigy to my receiver, just to play mp3's. Well, I heard way too much hiss, so I just burned a couple cd's full of mp3's. Well, playing the cd's in my Denon 1600 eliminated that, so that increases my concern for using the Audigy for...
I just asked this question over at AVS Forums, but I thought I'd bring it here too. Well, I'm seriously considering my next upgrade to include a push towards the HTPC side of things. My biggest concern is that the audio side will suffer, and maybe I'd be better off with sticking to the stand...
I don't have much to say, other than this is the LAMEST thread I've EVER read on HTF since I've been a member. I don't understand why people have to ruin the experience of HT by saying "I've got one, but you don't" type of thing. I'm not trying to pick fights here, but when you KNOW an...
I had a few PM's about some stuff too, so following the order in which I received them, I've replied to everyone who is first in line for the items they were seeking.

Herman, if I might ask...WHY does this particular speaker cable makes SUCH a difference? Not that I don't believe you, but I'm more of a science kind of guy and was wondering if there is something regarding the build of this particular cable that makes it better than some other cables?
For that much money, have you considered making your own cables? You could get a great set of tools, all the cable and the ends(and I'm talking about quality cable and ends). Plus, you'd future proof yourself incase you decide to alter or make longer cables, you wouldn't have to go out and lay...
Yeah, I would say $60 to connect your sub to your receiver is WAY too much, but that's just me. I have tested digital coax vs. a shielded cable from RatShack and couldn't hear any difference. So, you might try that rout.
Carl, I would suppose it depends on what type of cable you run now. Not to make this out to a silver vs copper thing, but if the cables you are switching too are the same gauge wire, and similar in construction, I would doubt you will notice a difference. Sometimes an anticipation of a better...
Thanks for the tips Joseph! I ended up ordering two dies from Parts Express as a slightly smaller die will do the trick. Other than the crimping issues, I think it will work out great!
When I first received my speakers, I set 3 of them up out-of-phase and didn't know I did for about 3 months. Didn't notice the problem until I picked up Video Essentials disc. Won't make that mistake again. The problem is that I traced the +/- wrong when attaching ends...so dumb!
Well, I started playing around, attempting to make my first component cables yesterday. Well, the first cut wasn't "exactly" perfect, so I attempted to adjust, and adjust again, and again...etc. So now, it isn't anywhere near where it started. Anyone have a good idea on how to get it back to...
Has anyone else tried to make the cables on this: http://www.bus.ucf.edu/cwhite/theater/DIYCable.htm I bought the equipment specified without the braiding and the shrinkwrap, but it seems that the crimp doesn't really secure the end on the cables. Am I doing this right? Thanks in...
Such an open ended system...but, with $2,000 in your budget, you can get a really nice sounding setup. One thing some other people are going to suggest is to read the primer - it's a great start. Anyhow, assuming you don't need a TV, I would probably lay down about $1,400 of that money on...
