I just read through this old thread about the STF-2. I just bought one and am in the process of calibrating and placing it. One question: what should the volume knob on the back of the sub be set at during the initial calibration process? My receiver is an older Denon 3200. I have been using the...
I started watching Alias on dvd and became hooked immediately. Once you watch Season 1, you will have to immediately buy/rent Season 2. I have now finished both 1 and 2 and am impatiently waiting for Season 3 to show up on dvd. Since I didn't tape Season 3 at the beginning of this year, I have...
I can report that, on my C27v36, the plug is on the side, instead of being in the back. While it is ugly, it doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the set. I don't have any red push at all. This model does not have the built-in cable decoder so I can't speak to that.
I second the comment about the Zenith C27V36. I just bought it for a bedroom and the picture is terrific for both analog cable and dvds. Analog cable actually looks almost as good as HD. I am going to hook up a new HD cable box on Thursday. Bought it at Circuit City for around $650 with a $50...
Another strong recommendation here for the Mitsubishi Diamond 55813. I can sit about 3-4 feet off center without picture distortion. The set is terrific in HD, SD and dvd. As for the Sony sets mentioned above, I have spent weeks reading all of the AVS Forum threads. My only advice would be...
I believe that at least one of the Sound Advice stores in Florida - possibly the one in Boca Raton - has this set on display. You could call their main number and inquire. Sound Advice is now owned by Tweeter.
I am getting the 65813 with a viewing distance of 9-9 1/2 feet. For 14 feet, I would definitely go with the 73 inch set. My parents have a 65813 with 14 foot viewing distance and could have gone larger. Great set, by the way.
I just set up a Mitsubishi 65813 for my parents. HD via OTA and Directv is stunning and SD via Directv is acceptable. If price is not a problem, I would go with either the 65813 or the 73713 from Mits.
Bob: We are using the 65813 at my parents' home in South Florida where they have a Sony HD satellite dish and an OTA antenna for HD. They are using the tv for 70% HD and 30% SD (mostly news channels). I think that the SD reception is very good. I would recommend getting an HD Satellite receiver...
BobK: I was going to buy the Pioneer Elite 730HD until I learned of the defect. I just purchased the Mitsubishi 65813 (Diamond) and can report that the HD picture is absolutely stunning. SD looks damned good, too. We are using this set in a room with a lot of windows and have to lower the blinds...
I bought the JVC N40BK about 1 month ago. With the rebate, it was approximately $79. Plays my dvds and DVD-Rs beautifully. Easy to set up and use. Highly recommended.
David: I just bought the N40BK from Crutchfield for $99 ($79 with the rebate) for use in my bedroom (non-HDTV setup). So far, I am completely satisfied with it. I agree with everything that Don said regarding loading, etc... Very easy to use, good picture in interlaced format. Can't comment on...
